Also.. if anyone has any tips for TTC.. please share.

Thanks so much ladies!

Hello @LBM2H! It is also recommended to wait a certain number of months before trying to conceive after stopping any hormonal birth control, in order to flush all of the excess hormones that could effect your baby, out of your system by the time you do get pregnant!

Also, waiting that amount of time could lessen your stress if it is residual hormones keeping you from conceiving Smiley smile. Good luck!!

It can go either way. The first time I stopped the pill because my OB/GYN told me I would have trouble conceiving because of family history. I was pregnant with twins 2 weeks after stopping. The next time we tried for over a year and couldn't get pregnant. Gave up & got pregnant. It's different for everyone every time. Good luck!

I recently saw my OB regarding DH and I starting the process of ttc and to know what I am facing due to having PCOS. She told me generally (though there are always exceptions) women are most fertile the first 3-4 months after stopping birth control. The formulas of the pills we take today do not take as long to work out of your system like they used to. I would make an appointment with your doctor asap. They may run blood tests to determine if there are any issues they can foresee that could make conceiving difficult.

It can happen quickly. However, I've had friends go off the pill and it took them a few months to conceive. Her doctor told her it could take a little longer due to the pill. So many factors go into this, so I'd just be prepared for whatever comes your way. Lol. Puns

Turnaround from the pill is right away, now if you on the shot, that takes awhile

It can happen quickly, everyone is different and it may depend on what type of birthcontrol you are using.

All these different stories have less to do with the birth control and more to do with each individual person's fertility and timing of when they are having sex! You can get pregnant right away, but it has more to do with getting a regular period. My Dr. told me as long as you get a regular period, the amount of time you were on the pill doesn't matter. Now, some women might take longer for their cycle to regulate after going off the pill than others, but again that has more to do with the individual than with the pill! My friend who is newly pregnant used the app Ovia to track her fertility and loved it, highly recommend it!

I would talk to your doctor. I've read it can take your body anywhere from one month to adjust to more than a year.

The following books were recommended to me from friends and I found them to be a great starting place (I definitely learned something in each of them): It Starts With the Egg; Taking Charge of Your Fertility; and The Motherly Guide to Becoming Mama.

It Starts With the Egg focuses on improving egg (and sperm) quality. Taking Charge focuses on how to track your cycle and maximize your chance of getting pregnant. Motherly breaks everything down from TTC all the way through the "fourth" trimester.
