Has anyone else had shingles in their mid twenties? Thursday l noticed what looked to be a bite on the right side of my stomach. Didn't think anything of it since it's not uncommon for me to have random mosquito bites. Noticed it was really red and sensitive to the touch Friday. Put some cortisone on it and went about my business until I noticed two different spots popped up in a diagonal line. The spots were becoming bumpier and the initial spot redder and more sensitive. The next day I mention something to FH (he's a RN) about how sensitive the skin around this bug bite is, the rash, and that it's starting to get painful. He looks at and says it looks like the start of shingles which the doctor confirmed this morning. Now I get to take these gigantic blue pills for the next ten days. My FSIL had shingles a few months ago at 16 and my SIL had it last year at 27.

I had shingles when I was 15. I had it on my back and stomach. No one I knew had it. I did have chicken pox when I was a small child. It was a miserable painful experience! I hope you feel better soon.

I had shingles when I was 17, they were awful! What was even worse was that I had it on my arm. I ended up going to the doctor when I could barely lift it because my shoulder hurt so bad. I'm pretty sure they ended up giving me a prescription pain pill. I started feeling better after I was on the medication for a few days but the rash was there for a few weeks Smiley sad good luck! I hope you feel better soon!

FH is 26 and he had shingles this past year, he caught it the day it appeared so he was fortunate enough to start meds early and reduce his risk of scarring. He still feels pain in the area every once in awhile and his doctor said that is common because his nerves were damaged. I was shocked he got it at such a young age. I hope you have a speedy recovery!

Yes anyone who has had chicken pox or the chicken pox vaccine can get it, unless you had built up an immunity to it which a blood test can test for. High stress and low immune system can bring it on if you come into contact with the virus.
