NWR: Tattoo placement ideas........HELP!! (Pics included)

NenaBear, on September 23, 2015 at 10:26 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 16

The appt is set for 10/3, but I'm still unsure of placement. I have 2 currently. A large fairy on my back between my shoulder blades and a body workers yin and yang on my right side. I'm rather modest and want to ensure that I get it somewhere that doesn't stand out. I know, huge fairy on my back, but it only shows in a few of my dresses.

My ideas:

Left arm inner bicep (currently in the lead)

Left side right along the bra line (a bit higher than the one on my right side)

Concerns:

Left arm - visible in virtually everything I wear outside of the 12 days of cold we get in FL

Left side - too much going on on the trunk of my body.

Legs are out. No tramp stamp. New design is a draft drawn true to size drawn on a post-it. Both places hurt like a bitch so pain level isn't a concern (Been there done that, I can deal).

Any ideas, thoughts, general feedback is greatly appreciated!! My artist is awesome, I draw my idea he makes it look great.

I'm a fan of symmetry, so I vote for on your other side, but I think it would look good either way. I'm meeting with a tattoo artist tomorrow for a consultation. It'll be my first "big" piece (it's still pretty small considering.)

Symmetry is a consideration. FH likes the arm placement, I'm completely torn, and my artist told me I was crazy for going for the ribs again lol

I love the inside arm placement, that is where I wanted my 4th but FH talked me out of it. FH isn't a crazy fan of tattoos but I love them. But I'm also a firm believer that I don't want them seen when I'm wearing a nice dress. I have 4 and they are only visible when I'm in a bathing suit. I would vote your other side. I have 1 on each of my ribs, one on my lower back side (not a tramp stamp) and one on the left middle of my back. If you don't want it to be seen all the time, the arm is not the place.

Very valid point Melissa. I think I'm trying to talk myself into the arm because it is FH's preference and it is less painful than the ribs.

Edit: It is my body and fully my decision, but he has to look at it so his input is important. Pain is a lower concern, but comes into play when fully weighing pros and cons.

That's beautiful. I would go for the arm, simply because I think the piece would work/flow better on the arm, rather than just kind of floating in space on your ribs.

I really love the design though!

(this post is not helping my ink craving, btw. I have a half sleeve I want to start after the wedding, and I can't wait!)

I think the arm would look nice but I also think the ribs, right where your bra sits would be really nice. Healing would kinda suck though. I have two myself, one on my forearm and a bigger one on my right shoulder, I however want two half sleeves lol

@Yasminadlv - You're welcome ;-) I agree with you that it would flow better on my arm vs. floating on my side. Do you have any on your arms currently?

@LizziD - Healing on my side will be a bear. I ruined countless tank tops trying to keep the ointment off my work clothes. Another pro for the arm. Does the one on your forearm get a lot of attention? Modesty kicking back in.. lol

What about the left side low on your hip? I have a similar heart there and it even gets hidden under bathing suits. Cute design!

I would vote for the side, even though it would look really nice on the inside of your arm. Also, have you considered maybe you middle back on the side? That area is not too painful & it would be hidden.

I have a giant coy fish on my back on my right side but, it does hit the spine. I want it finished with the water before we get married so I am going to have to endure the pain for the beauty. I understand about hiding them though. I have six but, with my job I can hide them all and most of the time people are surprised I have them.

I don't have my ribs done, but I do have my stomach done and healing really isn't as bad as you think. This was actually the easiest place to heal for me, which was shocking. If you don't want it to be seen, your arm is not the right spot.

@NenaBear - Its on my inside forearm. I can cover it up with a cardigan if I need to but I have never had any problems with jobs or such. I'm an accountant so once I get past the job interview I mostly stay in my office and am not seen too much hahaha I do get more attention outside of work, mostly bc a lot of people think that its a fake tattoo.

I do, I have four, on my lower arms. two on each arm.

On my right I have a blue lotus flower (with a skull), and a celtic heart (with a skull).

On my left I have a scarab beetle with open wings and an ankh, and a deaths head moth (both also have skulls. Its kind of a thing. lol)

Currently, they actually look like they're just floating, but I have plans to cover the rest of my arms with pieces that should flow nicely with them.

But my half sleeve first. Smiley smile Its a memorial tattoo for my best friend who passed away last december.

The healing on your ribs under your bra line will be a bitch. I have one there and it didn't heal nicely. The arm doesn't show as much as you think it will. I just went through all of my wedding pictures, and it only shows in 2 and just barely.

I vote arm just because I love to see my ink. Granted it will be visible but it is also a good ice breaker. I have only two tats that are visible (on my wrist and on my arm) and I never get bad reactions but that's because they are both flowers .

I have 9 pieces so I completely understand your love for tattoos. I have both

sides of my upper hips done, I love the idea of the bicep for placement. Let us

know what you decide and best of luck.
