NWR worried about my kitty and a drano incident. .

Kim, on December 1, 2013 at 6:07 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 18

Fh and I put some drano in the tub and we were keeping the door closed so she wouldn't get in there. However, I was in the bathroom brushing my teeth and didn't notice her walk in. When I turbed around, she was in the tub sniffing around. I instantly freaked out and she ran. We used mild hand soap and water to wash her paws off and then rinsed then again. We then towel dried them off. We gave her some treats to eat and some fresh water and she ate them no problem. She seems fine but I'm just worried. Has anything like this happened to anyone else?

Call your vet to make sure, but she should be fine. Just make sure to watch her for any vomiting or bloody stool. If she has any of those get her to a vet immediately. How long has it been since she may have ingested it?

Sounds like you did all the right things, but I second FMKennedy to call your vet to doublecheck....poor kitty.

Awww. We have three kitties. It sounds like she is doing well. I wouldn't rush her to the vet, but I would keep a VERY close eye on her. Cats have a habit of hiding their illnesses. Any signs of change should be noted.

Okay, she is purring and rolling around and she is still eating, so I guess that's a good sign?

Most vets have an answering service, but some pet hospitals might be staffed

There should be an emergency number for you to call if no one is in at the vet. I have several cats and they are sneaky Smiley smile I think she will be fine, just watch her very closely through the night. As Karen said, cats hide illness very well.

Aw, these little felines really manage to get into trouble, huh! I am sure she will be ok but keeping a close eye is important. Cats do hide their illness so well.

And thank you because you reminded me that i need to clean the litter before FH gets home or I'm going to get "in trouble." haha

Cuddle with you sweetie tonight. I mean the furry little one. Smiley smile

Pet poison control--they should at least be able to tell you what signs to look out for:
