NWR: Wrinkles. What works?

Becoming a Mrs, on January 28, 2016 at 5:59 PM Posted in Planning 0 16

So I'm only 26 but I def have some laugh lines. I've been contemplating Botox because obviously that works. I've never had to use a wrinkle cream and just always assumed they were a scam. Idk why lol. Is there any wrinkle cream that actually works? I have about 5 months before the wedding so I need something that won't take forever lol or should I just suck it up and get the needle lol.

Thanks ladies.

I can't really help as I've never had Botox, but my friend (27) loves it since it takes SO little at this age and she says that it will be better in the long run? But I don't know. I use anti aging cream that I love, but I don't have any lines yet, I'm just trying to be proactive about it. So, I guess, I can't really say if that works or not.

I went in asking about solutions for "laugh lines" nasolabial folds and my nurse suggested mesotherapy. She said some people, herself included, don't like the somewhat dense feeling Botox or juvederm can leave around that area. She suggested 3 treatments over a 3 month period. I haven't gone in yet but it may be something you can ask about!

Exfoliating & being diligent about moisturizing are definitely key. If it's around your eyes, I like the Caudalie eye cream since you can apply it on your lids too.

You can also look into NuFace. It's a small device that you use several times a week. Some notice immediate results, some people it takes several weeks of continued use.

Drink water. And laugh lines are good: it means you live a happy life! Embrace your face. We age. You can do it gracefully. :-)

I normally don't mind them. But I don't want them on my wedding day. I feel like if I consume anymore water I'll explode lol

The #1 external cause of wrinkles is exposure to UV light - it breaks down your skin's collagen. However, a lot of our wrinkles are caused by the use of our facial muscles from our movements and expressions, causing grooves as we age. This isn't something that a "cream" can fix. Botox will "numb" the muscle so it isn't contracting, which will cause the groove to soften, but it is temporary and there a lot of side effects to consider before going that route.

Try a dermatologist and find out your options. They have chemical skin peels, micro-abrasions treatments and retinol-A that may help. You can also do natural DIY facial treatments, weekly facials and a healthy facial regiment.

Drinking water will help improve your skin's hydration and help to PREVENT wrinkles, but it will NOT reverse the wrinkles that have already formed.

I use the ProX line from Oil of Olay. There's a product called Deep Wrinkle Treatment that works pretty good. It's totally reduced my laugh lines and the lines around my eyes.

There are so many things you can try, I highly recommend you try them before Botox. Not only does Botox have the side effect of paralyzing some muscles temporarily (which means, you might not have wrinkles, but you also may not be able to smile on your wedding day from it!!!) it can also have a slew of seemingly unrelated side effects.

My son used to get it regularly in his legs and hips to treat his cerebral palsy. They never told us that it can cause chronic ear infections, respiratory infections, and sinus infections. He had tubes in his ears three times in a 2 year period because of the Botox, it was that bad. That was just from injections in his lower body.

Botox is definitely not something to take lightly.

I had Botox when I was 24. I have a crease in between my eye brows because I'm very expressive in my face. I don't regret it and wish I could afford to do it every now and again.

Oy. I'd love to have the face I had at 24....

I use ROC resurfacing pads and then loreal collegen moisturizer and filler....

Don't worry about laugh lines; it means you're laughing!
