NYC Hotel for Wedding Night

Allyson and Matthew, on May 12, 2016 at 9:45 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 9

My fiance and I are staying in NYC for our wedding night before we fly out the next evening for our honeymoon. He has been to NYC before, but I haven't (although I am going this summer before our wedding so I will have been by the time the wedding rolls around). Does anyone have any suggestions for a good hotel? We were thinking staying around the Times Square area, maybe a little farther out. For the price, ideally under $500. Maybe something that is a little more classic...

Help would be appreciated!

Is your wedding also in NYC? If so what area?

Also, what Airport are you flying out of and what time?

I ask because, depending on where you need to be and at what time it will really make a difference. I honestly dont know if I would want to stay in a hotel in Times Square, its going to be hectic. But the Marriott Marquis and the W are 2 pretty "go to" TS hotels. You could also look into Dream its beautiful and a little out of the TS area. But again depending on what time you're getting in and what time you need to be at the airport in the morning there might be better Hotels to look into

You might want to reconsider Times Square, especially if you're looking for something more classic. It can be very hectic.

Assuming your date is correct on here, I put it into Expedia and the only hotels it showed me that are above your budget are The Four Seasons and The Plaza. I double checked and The Waldorf is under budget, but honestly the rooms are tiny and only ok.

Like PP said, airport and time of flights are important here.

I personally love The Library Hotel chain. They are boutique hotels that may cost a bit more than a regular chain, but they are worth every penny. We stayed at The Hotel Elysee for Valentines Day once and they upgraded us to The Presidential Suite.

If you can do $500/night, what about the Wythe in Brooklyn?

It's in Williamsburg, a "hip" neighborhood with LOADS of bars and restaurants within walking distance. You're close to the East River, will have a beautiful view of Manhattan, and will be free of the Times Square madness (which is not what NYC is, anyway. TS is a tourist trap/crowded disgusting mess).

We're flying out of JFK at 9pm on the 5th so we've got a bit of time during the day to make our way over there. And the wedding is actually in DC (a small family affair), but it's in the morning, followed by a lunch and then leaving for NY by train. My parents think we're crazy (which we probably are), but this is the main thing my fiance wanted so compromise! My family has a website where we can get discounts on hotels so we'll probably book through that site.

IDK about "classic" but try Ink 48. I agree with others about avoiding Times Square. Classic and Times Square don't seem to go together lol.

That will be awesome! I would recommend the Roosevelt on E 45th street. It is an older classic hotel that is very beautiful. I have stayed there before, and it was under $500 in walking distance to Times Square, Central Park, 5th Avenue, and the Upper East Side.

Check out the Hudson hotel near Columbus circle. Lots of different bars/food in the hotel plus walking distance to plenty.
