Help! Trying to plan a NYE wedding and need help with a timeline for ceremony into cocktail hour to dinner. The 5 hr open bar starts as soon as ceremony is over and the venue is stating that the dinner cannot be served until two hours exactly after the ceremony starts. Trying not to kick anyone out right after ball drops. Any and all advice is greatly appreciated! TIA

    Unless you're extending beyond the 5 hours, if you're wanting people to stay past midnight, you'd have to start at like 8 pm and dinner at 10 pm is way too late.

    My original thought was to have dinner served at 8p, with cocktail hour at 7pm. Which I think is reasonable for NYE. But then I’d have to extend bar by 1 hour, to have reception end at 1am. I doubt I can extend by only 30 minutes.

    I would ask if I could have the day extended by 30 minutes. You never know until you ask.
