Has anyone had or are planning a New Year's Eve wedding? Is it hard to book vendors because it's a holiday?

Definitely plan as far in advance as possible, as many vendors get booked up for NYE parties! Also, NYE weddings have become quite popular over the past few years, so you are also competing with other weddings. And keep in mind when budgeting that most venues increase their prices significantly on holidays, especially NYE.

I haven't done it but I have worked (as a catering server) on NYE. I would assume that whether or not it's more difficult to book vendors will depend on your location/size of metro area. It will almost certainly be more expensive (extra fees for holidays, bigger deposits, more restrictive cancellation policies). I would definitely start reaching out to local vendors for quotes now. The only way to get an accurate idea of the costs and contracts is to talk with potential vendors.

It will also be more expensive for your guests to travel, so keep that in mind for your decision making, too.

Yes! I really wanted a NYE wedding and living in NYC it was almost impossible to book. All the venues are hosting parties that evening, so the price per person was doubled/tripled and every venue I called said they needed a minimum of 350 people or they would be loosing money.

So we settled on his grandparents anniversary.
