Has anyone ever had a NYE Wedding or been to one? I would love some feedback.

Hi there! I’ve attended one years ago for a friend of mine who LOVED NYE. It was a blast. The couple was also a fan of fireworks and they had some shot off (I’m assuming in compliance with whatever city ordinances). Even if it’s not fireworks, as a guest, I think the send-off being lively was probably the best part especially going into the New Year. I’d love to see some other brides give suggestions as to what this could be like 😊

I wanted to have a NYE wedding so bad, but where I lived they bumped the prices up by $5000 or more because of the day and I wasn't about to do that lol I hope you get to have your NYE wedding.

I went to one and it was so much fun! We normally do something low key for NYE so it was nice to have an excuse to dress up. They had the reception in a hotel which was super convenient.

Hii, I attended a new year's eve party a few years ago and made some mental notes as pros and cons.
First of all, it was my favorite wedding I've ever been too. But it was also apparent that they paid the price tag for it $$$. To save money, they did non seated and appetizers. Most of the guest list cared about the booze and dancing. Hey, it was NYE - this is what alot of NYE venues do too.
From experience, I believe most people don't plan too far in advance for NYE, so your guest list is more likely to RSVP yes and be happy to have plans. A negative with this day being so popular, you'll likely feel like you have to settle on things. For example: the band/venue you want is probably already booked. Also people's budgets are deflated after the holidays, so you could have some cheap gifts from guests. You and your husband are both likely to never forget any anniversary. If you two are the type to go out and celebrate, you'll likely be planning in advance as well as spending more money on going out. However, you'll find an abundant amount a things to do on your future anniversaries. If your budget allows a NYE wedding, and you found the perfect venue, I personally think you just hit the jackpot. Besides all the negatives I listed, there's a reason this date is so popular with weddings. As previously stated, more of your guest list is likely to show up. Also alot of times venues allow a later end time. People are more likely to let loose and have fun. (If you get a cheaper band- people probably won't notice) Some people plan for NYE expenses and will most likely put that budget into your gift, which could make up for anyone who skimps you on a gift. I'm sure there is a ton more reasons. These are what I can remember most. Good luck on your wedding planning!!

We almost had one. That was my dream date. I didn’t want to commit since I wasn’t sure it would all work out. I mentioned that while signing the contract and the lady was like do you want it I’m about to sign a NYE party, but you can have it. I turned it down 😞
My dream was to start the ceremony so that our first kiss was at midnight. Afterwards a fun dance party with brunch type food (omelet station, waffle bar, breakfast meats, etc).
I used to work at a restaurant downtown that hosted NYE parties and they were so much fun, even as a worker of the event. For some ideas: Lots of heavy passed hors d’oeuvres and music (I don’t remember if it was a live band of DJ). Outside lounge (it over looked the street party which was super fun) We did party favors and Champaign toast at midnight. Every year I worked there the party sold out. People love to party on New Years Eve, so I think they’d be excited for you wedding that night. Saying that, you may have people decline because of standing yearly traditions. It may be hard to find a venue as people book NYE parties and NYE weddings have gotten a little more popular. And the reason I turned it down was because I felt like other vendors would be harder to find (caterer, photographer, etc).

I think from a guest standpoint, a NYE wedding is a blast! It may require a bit more planning and financial commitment from the couple, however. Here is a short article that lists some things you may want to consider when planning a NYE wedding.

As a guest, I would LOVE to attend a NYE wedding!!! 🎉 My only concern for attending is hotel cost. Find that out before you book, and consider getting a room block with better rates for guests. Or you could have your wedding in a venue that is close to several hotels for different budget options. And probably put on the STD the hotel options for guests to reserve EARLY before hotel rooms are sold out.

When originally thinking about wedding dates, NYE was one of my ideas. I think it’s a BLAST and everyone is always in a celebratory mood on NYE! Ultimately we got married this past Halloween! And we decided to have yearly costume parties for our anniversaries, followed by a getaway (I already purchased some decor items for our 1st anniversary party next October 🤦🏽‍♀️). But, having an NYE wedding date always allows you to have wonderful anniversary celebrations.
