October 17, 2020 Venue Cancelled

Samantha, on May 8, 2020 at 10:22 AM Posted in Pennsylvania Planning 0 5

October 17, 2020 PA bride here and we were rolling full steam ahead, truly believing this would all be over by then...until yesterday. We got the call informing us that our venue (local park in Butler County) made the decision to not open the park for the remainder of the year Smiley cry

We have committed to not changing our date but now i am worried that if we plan for an outdoor ceremony/reception that rental places will not be open. Or if we will go into another stay at home order due to the virus recirculating in the fall.

Advice appreciated!

So sorry this is happening to you! If I were in your shoes, research would be my bff! Confirm that these rental places have the right insurance to deliver to a park/private home/etc. And start yelping and calling away! The somewhat better news is there's still some time for you to tentatively book a plan b or another venue that hopefully you can take a virtual tour of for right now. Confirm what the vendor's contingency plan might be and even ask about sanitation if it's extremely pertinent to the type of service they provide. Have an indoor/outdoor plan that you two would be ok with knowing that it's still going to be your day no matter what!

I've learned that even if it's not your ideal situation, if you design a plan b that you're ok with, you're less likely to be overwhelmed or frustrated if you have to implement it because it's not taking you by surprise and you got the chance to plan it the way you want rather than being forced to pick something in another frantic situation. Stay strong I hope your plan b stands for plan best!

Thank you ladies for your responses.

At the moment, we are currently looking into other options.

I know we would prefer more of a rustic charm but we are certainly thinking of what will happen in the months to come.

Just took a few days to get over the disappointment.

Hi Samantha, I’m so sorry to hear about your venue. One thought is a relative’s home outdoors and a beautiful tent. I went to an Oct wedding years ago that did it and it was very pretty and cozy!! This way you are in control of the space at a home. Good luck and I really understand. 🙏🏻❤️

We have officially found a new venue. We are also looking at Plan C sometime this week. And attending a friend's wedding which is in their backyard which may end up being Plan D. So i think we are on the right track now. Thanks again everyone!
