October 2020 Brides

Are you still holding on to your date?? My fiancé and I have put off getting engaged/married for a while so that I could finish nursing school and get settled into my career. To get close to almost being done paying off our student loans, so that we’re in a good place when we get married. We were so excited for this year, because finally we feel like life can truly start for us. With that being said, I feel a lot of guilt bc neither of us want to postpone our wedding. We’ve waited so long for this, sacrifices a lot for this, been judged for being together for so long and not being married, and we don’t want to postpone our date. Friends mainly have been suggesting that we need to postpone so that we can get the wedding experience. Our plan B is to get married on that day— of course abiding by proper and safe guidelines. If that means only our parents can be there and the priest, we are fine with that. We’re going back and forth about having a wedding reception at a later date IF the 10 or less rule still exists at that time. What are your thoughts? What are you and your fiancés plans?

I'm definitely planning on having to postpone the reception, but we were probably still going to get married on the same day like you said. Just really hoping this doesn't go until october 🤞

Honestly if by September everything is fine I wouldn’t mind having a smaller reception. I wanted a smaller wedding a reception anyways. We’ve invited 140 guests but I would be okay with just 50 coming to be honest.

    Hi Candace!

My fiancé and I postponed our wedding from May to October because of everything going on. I hold high hopes that this country will be back and going forward soon! I find it impossible for businesses to not be able to get back into the groove by end of summer, if not before.

That’s how I feel! I’m hoping everything will go back to new normal by June or July. Just afraid of this second go around that they are speaking of. If that the case we will all be on quarantine again.

I Think Everything Will Be Back To ALMOST Normal Before October Comes Around So Im Still Planning As Normal And Ill Consider A Postponement Later On If Its Needed.

Gotcha. Same. My fiancé and I are getting married in the city where we moved to 5 years ago. All of our guests are from our home town (1.5 hours away) my bridal shower was going to be in my hometown and bachelorette party in August was going to be in Nashville. Were holding off on deciding wether to cancel or not in June

We are in October and planning as usual. Hopefully we are back to normal by then. We are having the shower in September so hopefully it clears up by then to. Just going for the best and we will postpone if we have to but it’s to early to make the decision.

I was so confident in my decision to keep moving forward but seeing all of these other October brides reschedule for next year started to get me nervous.

I brought up discussing a plan B with my FH yesterday. He’s cool as a cucumber and believes this will be over until then and that we shouldn’t worry. I’m still planning for it but feel we should at least mentally prepare ourselves by strategizing another plan if we have to postpone.

While things will probably not be 100% back to normal, I bet by October we will be able to have weddings again. You may just have to have a smaller guest list. I wouldn't worry about postponing yet.

I'm not canceling; the date has significance and I am not waiting another year. I'm hoping things will have calmed down enough. However, I can't move forward with flowers or cake or alterations with everything being shut down, and that makes me nervous.
