October 2020: Keep or Push out?

Colleen, on May 27, 2020 at 6:54 AM Posted in Pennsylvania Planning 0 13
Hello everyone! My fiancée and I live in PA. We are still undecided on whether we should still have the big event we wanted or wait until 2021? Our guest list is only about 159 (only save the dates have been sent so far). However, we are worried if we postpone too soon then what if things open up. But then if we don’t postpone and our county maybe only allows 50 people events....not sure the best option. October brides, what are your thoughts? What do your counties and states look like right now? We’re still getting married on our day but it’s just postpone or push ahead.

Hey colleen, I also live in PA and my wedding is October 17th. As of right now we are still planning for that date. But our backup plan is to still get married on the date in our backyard if need be and postpone other wedding things like the reception. Alot of places are going in the "green" area on friday so im hoping that it continues to get better and we can have our wedding as planned. Best of luck to you !

Best of luck to you as well! I’m coming up against date deadlines that without solid facts I’m stuck. So that’s why I’m hesitant. Thanks for your thoughts.

If it helps, Gov. Wolf stated just today on Pittsburgh news if your county is green, gatherings up to 250 are allowed! My county is currently yellow, but hoping with the summer heat, more people being tested, etc. we can get our counties green in time. 💚

10/17/2020 central PA bride! We are holding onto hope and not making any decisions to postpone until late July. A lot can happen over June and July and we are hoping things will be better by October. Hang in there!

You must be reading my mind. I was thinking the same deadline to make our decision. June into early July. I guess Friday we’ll find out which counties go green and what that means for us fall brides. 😁 Best of luck to you either way.

That’s awesome Colleen!! We live in Westmoreland county but are marrying in my hometown of Erie. Our venue has not reached out since the announcement on what are options are. Has your venue let you know what plans they have?

Hi Katie! Our venue has not reached out either. We are using The Rose Barn which is owned by Allegheny Parks and Recreation. I have emailed my contact a few times with no reply. Since they are run by Allegheny county I’m not sure someone is just chillin in their tiny parks office waiting to answer these questions. 😆 But hopefully we hear back soon. My fiancée’ said he was going to call this week. So that part is still kind of up in the air. 😬

Same here! I feel so up in the air. I hear some churches are not allowing programs, song books, etc. to minimize the spread of germs. I may have to skip those and printing menus. Not sure if our cookie and candy buffet will be allowed either. I did purchase hand sanitizer sprays for guests to have one when they enter the church. Thought I may display them on a pretty tray with a flower or two. If I hear anything more, will be sure to post ☺️

Yes please post any updates you hear. We are not having a ceremony traditionally in a church. It will be family, bridal party and spouses of the bridal party. Outside, down from the reception venue. But having the little bottles maybe as they walk in or at their tables is a good idea! In the bathroom too perhaps. Something to think about. Let’s hope things continue to progress these next few months.
