October 2020 wedding canceled

Due to Covid-19 our venue has canceled our wedding. Even though it is not until October! With no chance to reschedule. Is anyone else facing this problem for your fall 2020 wedding?

Sounds like they’re going out of business or something. I recently postponed with my venue until August. I hope you’re able to find another venue that fits your needs!

Well reading what PP said I guess i understand better. Still sucks that you are out of a venue but if there's a silver lining its that you got your $$ back. Did you have a runner up place to hold your wedding? I hope everything works out for you and stay safe!

No we never imagined this would happen and we had already paid it in full, so having another wasnt on our mind unfortunately. We are staying hopeful that we can figure something out!

We are in the opposite boat. Wedding date is oct 18 2020 and we contacted our venue to start a discussion of ‘what if’s. At this point, I feel like the planning is so difficult, I just want to cancel it. The fun of it all is certainly turning into complete stress with all of the unknowns. As of now, our venue will not offer refunds if we cancel. He mentioned rescheduling but we aren’t even feeling like doing that.

That seems too soon to cancel! It seems like a rushed decision. So sorry that is happening to you guys. Glad you can get your money back. If it's now owned by Pechanga, can they offer a new venue location?

We have the same date! Haven't heard from our venue yet (they are going month to month) Seems to be mostly rescheduling to week days in 2021, I wonder if we will be offered a refund. So torn!

I am in the same boat as you! Oct 4 wedding but our venue isn’t entertaining conversations for weddings that far out yet and it’s so frustrating. FH and I want to call the whole thing, elope and have a party that we can plan when we know life is normal again. It just seems so unlikely that groups 100+ will be able to gather. I’m in a hotspot, MA, but my wedding is in Maine. Maine is slowly reopening but of MA still has strict restrictions come fall we can ask our guest (99% coming from MA) to travel and take the risk 💔

Wait, your venue canceled on you and won't allow you to reschedule? I hope they are at least refunding you everything you have paid so far.

This is exactly my concern. I am 10/31/20 under 100 people. I am in Ohio and so so many big gatherings have been canceled. One minute I think it will be okay the next ready to post phone. My venue has May dates available my Uncle who paid for the band can't come because his son is graduating from HS next year. I think if they had a June date open I would have pulled the trigger and done it but they have no June dates on Saturdays. I really don't want to wait until 2021 but don't know what to do.
