October 2021 Brides - Invitation Timing?!

Lisa, on July 6, 2021 at 4:27 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 14

October 2021 Brides, we are almost there!

I've been seeing a lot of posts about Save the Date and Invitation timing and it's got me thinking. From the start (since the postponement), I've been planning on sending our invitations today but I decided to hold off because I'm thinking it might be too early? I've seen tons of posts abut out the 6-8 week standard so if I mail them today, that's 12.5 weeks. Our venue (includes caterer and bar) require a final headcount 30 days prior to wedding which is why I thought I needed to mail them now, which is 6-8 weeks from that deadline not the wedding date.

50% of our guests are out of town with a majority of them having to travel by plane.

Should I mail them in 3-4 weeks, July 26 (or no later than August 1) to allow guests 4 weeks to respond by our August 29th deadline or do I give them more time to respond? The original Save the Dates went out in early March 2020 for October 2020 then New Date cards went out in July 2020 for October 2021. I think most guest remember the new date, but I know some don't. People are starting to ask, too.

What are your thoughts? October brides, what is your timeline?

Thank you!

I can't change my RSVP deadline, as stated above, final headcount is due 30 days prior. I'm leaning towards waiting to send the invitations.

Hi Lisa! I think you should hold off sending until a bit longer, no sooner than very end of July. If you sent StD/CtD cards, then people are aware of the date and will hold it! I am thinking if I received an invite for a wedding in October now, I'd probably forget to do the RSVP because it's so far away!

I'm getting married October 2 and we plan to send invites July 31/August 1, with an RSVP date of September 3. Part of me feels like it's still too early!

Getting married October 22. We are sending the invites out on July 15 with RSVP deadline of Sep 3. 70% of our guest will have to travel by plane which is why we are sending it out a bit early.

We just sent our invites out for our September 3rd wedding (the majority of our guests will need to travel). RSVP deadline is 4 weeks before the wedding (caterer needs the guest count 3 weeks before + 1 week to contact stragglers) so we figured + 1 week for delivery + 4 weeks to mull it over = 9 weeks before the wedding.

    Our wedding is October 23rd.

We have already mailed our wedding invitations, and have started receiving some RSVPs.

We put our RSVP date as September 18th.
