Hi everyone!

We booked our venue and have our date picked (10/10/25), and as crazy as this sounds - I'm bored!

I want to dive head first into planning and do all the things... but it's too soon. We do have a save the date picked out (too soon to order). I've made a guest list... and budgeting spreadsheets... and planning spreadsheets.... and have all the lists...

Any suggestions to scratch the planning itch without going overboard?

I second the Four Brides show to generate ideas and just entertainment. Also look for Bridezillas - good for a laugh, some ideas but also might make you feel better if you feel like you are crazy (that's kind of their point). It's free on Pluto.

Also start looking around at music to build your Playlist. We are doing our own off Spotify and have a lot of fun ideas. But that can burn a lot of time and fun going down YouTube rabbit holes of songs and music videos you haven't thought of, and adding to a potential Playlist (pare down later. This is fun for now)
Look for contests to enter. Wedding specific or other. Will help generate money or things if you win. On a similar note, go thrifting or to a local auction/flea market. Who knows what you may find that you can use?

I feel you on the planning itch. We got engaged end of July but don't plan on getting married til Feb 2026!Have fun and congrats!!!

I didn’t think about contests or thirsting - thanks!! I did start making a listing of songs, and found one I want to walk to. Could change in a year, but we’ll see!

Congratulations on your wedding as well!

Hi, I suggest to do research of vendors (photographer, videographer, dj's, venues, flowers, cake, rental). Also, you can start doing a pinterest board with all the ideas for decor, tables, seating chart. Can include inspo for the shooting...

I’ve been looking at venues, my date is 09-27-2025 and I want to just get the venue right out of the way that way I can explore the options and the pros and cons and perks of it. I feel like venues is one of the biggest thing. Plus dates start to book up fast.

Congratulations on your engagement!! That was the first thing we did too. I made a (very large) list of venues I thought were nice, we requested info from them all and narrowed them down that way. Then we toured the ones we really liked and we’re able to easily make the right choice for us.

    Yesss!! Congratulations!!!
I was envisioning a barn type feel. Maybe something not necessarily in a barn. Maybe like a loft of some sort. I like the wood and string lights and was looking for something of that nature. All of the options I have been given are in the $5,000-$10,000 range and I am not looking to spend quite that much money! How are you displaying your theme through the banquet hall? I am eager to know!

Our venue will be providing decor, but I'm planning fall florals for the outside portion, but that can also be used inside during the reception. I'm not planning on changing or doing a lot overall. They have candles/lighting, etc. that we'll use.

Yay for all of us!! I actually already booked my venue and hired a DJ and photographer. I chose to do this because it gives me time to save money and know what the final costs are going to be WAYYY ahead of time. I now know what I need to be saving per pay check to be able to pay for my wedding. I feel the same I’m just so ready to plan but honestly this is going to take so much stress off of me in the long run so I am very glad I did it this way!! CONGRATS!!!

I am in the same I am in the same boat! I feel like I should be doing so much more. This weekend I'm going to a wedding show hosted by the venue we chose so we can meet vendors and see the venue itself

I started planning for my 10/05/25 wedding and I’m probably sending out my save the dates soon since I’ve already been engaged a year and everyone already knows we are getting married around October 2025

Hey, 10/11/25 bride here. I also have venue booked and bought my dress already ( wasn't planning on it but it happened) I've started to collect things for my table scaping. We are coming up on prime time for people to be selling their things on Facebook marketplace so I've started securing vases, and table runners that kind of stuff. It's been enough to sort of scratch that planning itch for me.

Look online to get ideas of decorations and a menu. What about a kid's table? Do you want to DIY anything? If so, what are your ideas and do you have a time management schedule to get them done the way you want?

Completely agree!! The fact that the venue is secured was such peace of mind for my FH. We’re moving in 2 weeks but after that the next big checkmarks are going to be for the photographer and DJ.

We’re having no kids besides my niece and his nephew (who will be 13 at the time). Not against DIY but don’t want to do a lot. One thing I will do is our invites. We want to do all-in-one wedding invites, so while we were just on vacation we bought a wax seal for our last name and will be sealing the invites that way. I thought it was a fun personal touch.

Ooh love this idea! Our venue provides decor so I kind of marked that as done, but it never hurts to browse! Congrats on the dress! I tried on a few and really liked one, but didn’t LOVE it.
