Does your contract specify that if they aren’t able to fulfill their end of the obligation, that they will source a replacement of similar talent for you? Read your contract and if so, ask them to reach out to their vendor friends for a favor.

Oh no I m sorry this happened to you! I'd ask around to your friends and other vendors, specifically your photographer a lot of times they meet a lot of hair & makeup people. Here's hoping you find someone ever better, good luck!

View Quoted Comment Yes girl, I should clarify there hasn’t been any issues on their end other than canceling on me. My full deposit was refunded and they have been truly apologetic. It’s just upsetting being in this position now.

Have any of your friends or family gotten married recently that they might be able to recommend someone to you? My other thought would be to also look on the Knot. I have found that WeddingWire and the Knot don't always have the same vendors.

Another option is to call reputable salons in your area or nearby where you are getting married. Sometimes that have teams they send out for weddings or you could have a fun wedding morning at the salon with your bridal party. Best of luck to you!

There is also a website called Thumbtack. I was in contact with a girl who did hair and makeup for events/weddings. She wasn’t affiliated with a company but she had a lot of reviews and pictures.

1st make sure you got your deposit back. Because they canceled on you they should be obligated per said contract to give it back.


2nd I would suggest broadening your search. You might need someone to drive in to do it or possibly split it up between a hair stylist and a makeup artist.
My hair dresser is doing my wedding hair so that’s a good place to start. If they can’t do it then they should be able to recommend you to someone.

Thumbtack is a lifesaver, had to change officiant at the last minute. Got a great one lined up as well as a baker for our wedding cake. Check them out, otherwise if you have a friend who is great at makeup and hair ask if they'd be willing to assist you.

• your photographer
• local salons• your day of coordinator • Instagram - search #illinoismua #illinoismakeupartist #southernillinoismua AND searching #illinoisbride #illinoiswedding etc (interchange some of the root words in those hashtags as needed). It’s a really great way to find posts by makeup artists in your area AND makeup artists that have been tagged by brides in your area. I found my photographer that way, among other things.
