October honeymoon thoughts

The FH and I are now at 99 days away and we’re looking deeper in honeymoon options. Please be kind while responding. Not to sound heartless or anything like that but we don’t want any “be responsible And stay home” because of covid answers. We have decided that while we will not be traveling outside...

We have decided that while we will not be traveling outside the USA but we’re still wanting to take our honeymoon trip somewhere beautiful. We’re getting married October 3rd and are wondering where everyone else getting married in October is going? We’re thinking Florida but trying to get ideas for other places as well.

If you're wanting a warm beach, consider Hilton Head Island or Kiawah Island in SC.

Savannah, GA is gorgeous!!! They have beaches a few miles away and great restaurants and small, romantic hotels.

We are having a intimate wedding in September in Savannah which is out of town for us already. We are planning on scheduling the honeymoon 2-4 weeks before our wedding. We have looked into US Virgin Islands, Napa Valley, a local mountain "glamping" retreat, or a staycation where we switch "countries" every day. Our wedding was supposed to happen in April and we were supposed to go to Greece for our honeymoon. I ended up surprising my future hubby by decorating our house like Greece, getting Greek takeout, Greek Wine, playing Greek music, and then we binged Greek related movies (My Big Fat Greek Wedding and Hercules). It was so much fun, but I totally understand not wanting to let Covid run your life. We are completely in the same boat and are hoping to do a great trip outside of the house. I recommend waiting to book until closer to the date so you don't loose any money in case certain states change their travel laws.

ADORABLE! I love what you did for him and you. Oh I am certainly going to wait and buy all the insurance to protect against having to move anything and losing money.

We’re hoping to find somewhere state bound that neither of us have been too. Beaches are definitely our thing. We’re always go go go so we are “lazy” on vacations.

YES! I feel like I have so much judgment coming my way as well because I’m still going forward as planned so I’ve just recently started asking others opinions because it gets to be too much as times! We are deciding to stay within the USA as well. We thought about Hawaii, Maui was the dream place but that’s seeming a little less realistic as we move forward (their governor is being a little more restrictive😓) so now thinking St. Thomas since it is still considered part of the U.S. Our other thought was possibly Florida Keys or somewhere in California (possibly spending a few days in Colorado if this is the option we decide to go with).

I tried really hard to word it so I wouldn’t upset anyone but I totally feel you! We saw the Hawaii restrictions and said no thank you. We hadn’t thought about the Virgin Islands but I’m think about that now😊.

The FH and I both work so much and have only a few hours together each week that this honeymoon and wedding planning has to be done together. Neither of us are willing to budge on that. We firmly believe that our marriage should and will always be a priority.
Florida has certainly been on our radar. We found some amazing Airbnb’s were seriously looking into. But no trigger pulling yet. Probably next month.

We plan to stay in the states after our 10/11 wedding. We are going to Colorado to be in nature, getting a decked out cabin with hot tub and will stay to ourselves. We were looking forward to before covid, and are even more excited to continue the plan an have 2 weeks Corona free

I hadn’t thought about the Virgin Islands either, we said definitely no to Hawaii with those restrictions as well! We are thinking about Florida too, just so much happening it’s hard to choose and be certain!

If you're going to travel out of state I would suggest getting an Airbnb and just staying up with the area you're going to, current lock down, travel status. You will find yourself able to have a little less worry if you're staying somewhere that won't be full of people like a hotel, and where you can control the cleanliness of your environment a little better. We're October too and we cancelled our Mexico honeymoon and postponing till next year, because we can't afford to get stuck somewhere due to a mandatory travel ban. So, we are renting a secluded cabin in Broken Bow OK, and just going to relax for a few days. Hope you find something!

Gatlinburg is definitely on my list to visit, but we’re only going to be gone for 2 nights on our minimoon, and it’s such an obnoxious drive for us to Tennessee, so we’re just renting a cabin a few hours north of us in the VA mountains.

I know our state of Maryland is doing REALLY well with covid. Our Governor has received nothing but awesome praise from everyone. He has been easing us into each stage and we are currently in Phase 2.2. Maybe you can find a cute Air BnB somewhere on the east coast? We have ocean city as an option but I am not sure what is available during this time. I know a lot of people LOVE the Poconos too. Just some brain storming thoughts Smiley smile
