October wedding.....am i crazy?

Edith, on August 7, 2020 at 11:38 AM Posted in California Planning 0 14

Well our wedding is October 10th, 2020 in Northern California. It doesn't seem like this virus is going away anytime soon. We are so invested in this date, and we do not want to postpone. We have sent out invites and already received RSVP's. We have downsized our guest-list 55 MAX. Our reception is on a rooftop terrace that normally fits 100 + so there is plenty room for "social distancing". The venue hasn't cancelled and all my vendors seem to be on board. I will have a "sanitizing station" at the entrance of the venue with hand sanitizers & masks (if people would like to wear, they can). Am i crazy for still going through with it? Any other brides still having their fall wedding? This is so stressful Smiley sad

We’re currently still on for our November 21st wedding and I’m thinking about making little “care packages” with hand sanitizer, a mask, and their favor.

Nope! I am having my wedding 9/5/2020 with 55 people give or take. I live in northern cali as well. Our wedding is completely outdoors. 28 days to go and I couldn't be more excited!

You’re not alone. I’m just now thinking about postponing again. Even with a decreased guest list, masks, plated diner and sani stations I’m up in arms. I just read an article were 250 people attended a wedding in Beirut and 89 are positive. Yes I know that’s a large guest count and a different country but the virus is consistent anywhere. By today I will have a decision. Good luck to you!!

Not crazy!!! Woohoo date twins!!! I'm getting married on 10/10 and also in Northern California! I'm in the exact situation as you, we are full steam ahead with our wedding planning. Our venue has not cancelled on us, we majorly cut our guest list down to just 22 people all close families and wedding party. Our vendors are all on board too and we'll also provide hand sanitizers and masks if guests want them. As long as you're following all the safety precautions and social distancing, you'll be okay. Since our venue has been very accommodating we feel like postponing or cancelling is not a possibility. As long as it can still happen there I'm happy haha. Where in Nor CA are you located? Hoping in these next 2 months we'll see some improvement with things.

We’re aiming for 10-10-20 in the FL Keys. Our guest count is about the same and we’re planning an outdoor sunrise ceremony followed by outdoor reception.
All we can do is hang tight and wait for our vendors / venue to cancel.

We're still moving forward with out September 19th wedding. We've added hand sanitizer stations around the venue and have decided to move the reception outside (originally going to be in a really nice draped tent) so that we can spread out more. We're inviting guests to bring their masks and wear them if they want to

You're definitely not crazy. You're hoping for your wedding to happen like you planned, and nothing is wrong with that! Especially if the guests are ok with attending and everyone you love is there to celebrate with you. I was also contemplating still having a smaller wedding with 25 people & masks/social distancing, etc. (we're in SoCal) but ultimately I decided that it's not safe. You see so many news articles about people having family gatherings/weddings, etc. and people getting sick - I didn't want that to happen. Not to mention, this would be the first time our families really mingled and got to know one another... I don't want them to all be wearing masks and scared to go near one another.

We are getting married also 10.10 woo date twins! And will be having 36 people in so cal! Riverside. We are doing assigned seats for the ceremony to socially distance everyone. We decided to do cake and punch reception instead of sit down dinner and hand sanitizer favors! We are having guests wear masks when mingling but can take them off while seated for the ceremony. You got this girl it’s crazy times but love will prevail!
