October wedding

Steph, on May 25, 2020 at 9:33 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 8
My wedding is oct 23. Not much is planned, it’ll be a simple wedding but I still need a lot of stuff. My second choice date was April 9. I don’t know anymore what to do. I was also thinking maybe I should just get married in my church on Oct 23 and call it a day and I would not have a party after. What do you think?? I just feel if I wait for April this will still be going on so why wait

Go with the date you want. It doesn't have to be fancy unless that's what you want. Decide what's most important to you and your fiance and skip the rest. Just be aware that you need to provide some kind of reception for guests attending the ceremony, even it's just cake or appetizers from Costco.

We’re 10/10/20 and feel the same way. In our case, everything was booked and planned already (pre-covid). So we’re moving forward unless our venue decides to close/cancel. Our plan B date is 4/10/21, because I refuse to push it out more than 6 months. But, I don’t think life will be SO much more different or SO much “better” in April (or all of 2021) to make it worth postponing to then.

I’m a date twin with you! Five months is totally doable. My brother put his simple wedding together for about a hundred in about a month so just put a plan together with checklists to pace yourself in decision making so it doesn’t get overwhelming all at the tail end. You can do this! 👍

I understand and also worry about next year going under lockdown again. We’re rescheduled from May to October. Our plan right now before printing invites-again- to see what the state and country look like. We’re older and many of our guests are in heir 60’s and 70’s. It may mean my bff from out of state can’t make it but I need this to be done. If I were you I would plan with plan b in mind.

You can absolutely have an intimate event and still make it super nice! You can hire a decorater or rental company to set up in your backyard Smiley smile at this point, idk that postponing would be the best idea as we have no clue what life’s going to be like next year either with the pandemic.

The best thing about weddings is that you get to do whatever you and FS want to do. If you want something simple, then you get to have something simple!

    Hi Steph,

I'm so sorry you are going through this! I have provided a few discussions below that I think might help.

Covid-19 Sucks! Any October brides postponing for 2021?

Things are changing daily, so keeping the lines of communication open is important. That way, you can make decisions in a timely fashion.

    Good luck!

    Smiley heart
