My fiancé's best friend is marrying us. Should we have him dress the same as the groomsmen, or dress differently or however he wants?

Officiants don’t typically match the wedding party. If they don’t have some specific attire for their role (robes, collar, etc), then they just should match the formality level of the event. Our officiant wore a suit. He did ask the wedding colors and wore a matching tie, which I appreciated but didn’t expect.

We're just letting him wear a suit or whatever he's comfortable in. Our wedding is going to be pretty laid back and chill so I'm not sure if this helps 🥰
