I need input!

A very close friend of mine is performing our ceremony. She is a notary. Do I pay her?

I would offer payment or at least a nice tip.

Just because she is a notary doesn't necessarily mean she can legally perform a marriage ceremony. I would check the rules where you are getting married to see who are actually able to perform ceremonies. As for the question you asked, yes I would pay her.

Find out what the laws are in your state through the marriage license office. Then if they are allowed, pay the going rate.

Thank you! You have a valid point. Here in Florida, she can legally marry us

I have a friend who is going to help with decor - she has a side gig painting furniture, decor, etc. I am def giving her some money, though she’d do it for free, because I know it will be work.
Ask your friend - my sister has officiated a ceremony for a friend didn’t want to be paid, but she became an officiant specifically for that wedding.

I would offer to pay her for doing the ceremony, but not necessarily because she’s a notary. I’m a notary and I don’t charge people for notarizing things.

I would ask her. My future step father in law is performing our ceremony and would be insulted if I tried to pay him. Just depends on your relationship.
