Officiant Script

Emma, on March 31, 2018 at 8:24 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 9
So our wedding is very non-traditional. My brother is officiating, it is not in a church setting, and we are doing a pretty unique unity activity. My brother is currently writing up his speech outline and topics, and wants me to tell him what all I want to be said. This is his first time officiating a wedding, as he got certified specifically for my wedding. He says that he wants it to be my perfect script, however I feel like that is almost taking away from what I should be hearing and feeling on the day of. Did anyone else read through their Officiant scripts? Any suggestions on what to do?

Our officiant sent us a copy of thr script to make sure it's what we wanted abd for us ro make any necessary corrections. You can always Google non religious scripts online to help you get an idea of what you would like said during the ceremony.

Just finished writing our script! Brother in law is officianting ours. I don’t feel like it took away I feel like it is making it even more special! It will literally be our ceremony which I love. He is reading over it this week and adding in bits and pieces.

Let the speaker choose their method. Some write out speeches, some use just notes or an outline. Almost no one doesn't have something written down. Public speaking is difficult. He needs to do a lot more speaking than you.

Ours sent us the script and we have to read it and make choices so it's personalized for us.

I’m in a similar situation; my FH’s best friend is officiating our marriage and wants us to write the entire ceremony. So, I found our ceremony script on Pinterest. We are doing a hand fasting ceremony, so we plugged this in our script where there was another type of unity ceremony.

So we actually just met with our officiant today (one of my FW's best friends who got ordained for our wedding) and what we did was I researched examples of scripts to see what we liked the best in terms of language. We met about a month ago and gave her some examples, discussed the history of our relationship, etc.

Then today, our officiant had taken those examples, picked out pieces from a few and added her own words in there as well. She will also say a story about our relationship (which she didn't tell us the exact verbiage so it would be a surprise, which is great) but everything else we know exactly how the script would go.

We are doing this! My BIL (brother's husband) got ordained specifically to wed me and FH. I spoke with him about a month ago and, as speech writing is part of my job, we agreed that I would have a hand in putting together the script. I will come up with the basic outline and fill in most of the language, however he has said that he has some stuff he would like to say and would sprinkle it in throughout. I'm going to provide him a "final draft" of the script about two months before the ceremony and that will be the last I will see of it. From there, he'll add in his anecdotes; that way, there would be a few surprises throughout the ceremony for myself. As an introvert, this is actually the best course of action for me since I will know most of what is being said beforehand and won't be too caught off guard.

Where did you’re friends and family get ordained at? We plan on asking my brother to marry us but I want to know where to send him to get ordained.
