Officiant stress....

Rachel, on March 23, 2021 at 8:59 AM Posted in Planning 0 5

So we hired a very expensive officiant who personalizes ceremony but now being told he needs to start promptly at 330 since he has another wedding in the city. What if someone is late or something goes wrong? this doesn't seem right. I am wondering if i need to go with someone else.

Did you have anything in the contract about time?

I don't know if its necessarily wrong. I'm being married in a church that has 4 weddings that day. If you're late, you get cut short or lose your slot. And honestly starting late is so rude to your guests.

I’m a prompt person and would expect my guests to be early-to-on-time for the ceremony. It would be very rude for guests to be late so shouldn’t be a problem. You can always write on the website “arrival at 3:15, ceremony begins at 3:30”

What is the time that he is booked on the contract? But I agree with Amanda, you can let people know that the ceremony will start promptly at 3:30

If you love them, they are worth keeping! People who are consistently late will absolutely overlook the word "promptly" But if you say "Arrival begins at (time), the doors will close at 3:30" It sounds a bit more formal and serious. This is what my planner recommended to me, and we are writing it that way on invites and wedding website

Was the wedding always supposed to start at 3:30? He’s probably just saying he wants to start on time because a lot of times weddings start late, but this doesnt seem like a problem. Hes not going to just leave if your wedding starts a few minutes late lol. Tell your guests to show up at 3
