Officiant wear

Following because I didn't even really think about this!

Ours wore vestments, but he's an Episcopal Priest - so not so helpful in this situation. For what it's worth, I think most officiants I've seen (who don't wear some kind of robes) have just dressed similarly to the groomsmen.

From my research, most just wear whatever they want to. Usually something black or dark colored but typically I don't think the couple tells them what to wear. We got married in a church so we didn't have this issue since our Pastor had a specific outfit he wore for weddings.

What I meant by my post, (since you seem to have taken offense) was that if you hired a professional that wasn't a family member, they have outfits they typically wear for weddings. Of the 3 we looked at, the website stated what they wore or the contract did. You can do what you want for your wedding. Whatever the officiant wears does not make it an unorganized piece of crap, but I hope you have a great day!

Our venue is pretty formal and our officiant (close friend) said he would be more comfortable in something with a jacket. Our guys will be in Navy Tux's, the girls are in burgundy floor length dresses, and our officiant will be in dark gray. I left it up to him if he wants a suit or a tux.

The groom, groomsmen, and dads will be wearing all black suits with a silver tie. Our officiant will be wearing a grey suit, white dress shirt, and black tie.

There will be some comprehension amongst the guys with out making our officiant look like a groomsmen.
