Officiant

How far out did you guys book your officiant? It’s one of the last vendors I need so I’m shopping around. I’m 9 months out at this point. I called one after a few emails and she told me she doesn’t really do contracts or deposit and that she usually doesn’t book out this early, i I thought then what makes me think you will show up with no contract or deposit? Sounds sketch right? So as I’m emailing other officiants for availability 3 others have already replied that they are booked for our date. Which seems odd that the first one said I’m booking out early. Thoughts ?

We booked our officiant the end of January and are getting married next week. So 8 months in advance and at that time we paid a deposit and signed a contract. I personally wouldn’t book any vendor without a contract.

I agree with Desiree...don't book a vendor without a contract.

We got married 7/14/19, started speaking with our officiant 10/20/18 (checked my email lol) and signed a contract 5 days later. So about 9 months in advance. Its a pretty important part, so definitely a good bit in advance and agreed with pp definitely a contract.

Same here! We were advised to get one ASAP as they book fast. You should ask the ones that are booked if they can recommend someone else. That’s how we found ours!

We booked out probably 1.5 years in advanced. We had to have a non religious officiant and knew those were in very short reply. I would still keep looking around. If you still want this woman, then insist on booking now with a contract (citing what you did here). If she still refuses, then maybe have a friend become an officiant as a backup??

We booked ours maybe 5 months in advance. We didn't want a religious ceremony so we weren't worried about a specific pastor's availability, and also really just wanted someone with some experience who was affordable and open to doing a simple and quick ceremony. We ended up going through the list of people you can call to marry you at the courthouse, and found someone who was also listed on Wedding Wire and had a lot of positive reviews. I agree that some officiants book up early (the first person I found that I liked was booked 10 or 11 months in advance), but I think you can definitely still find someone good a few months out.

We booked ours 6 months out. We had the HARDEST time finding one. I had several that said no contract, and I was like "So NO!" like obviously I need a contract if I'm paying you for a service???
