Officiants in the Chicago area

Nicole, on October 16, 2020 at 9:08 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 9

My fiancé and I are getting married next May outside of Chicago - in Streamwood, IL. After reaching out to three different officiants for our wedding, listening to a one hour to two-hour presentation for what they will do for our ceremony.. I'm shocked when they show the prices to us. Little did I know, what I'm envisioning for our big day is a full-service ceremony.

All we want is a 30 minute or less ceremony, Gods blessing, acknowledgement of our parents, vows to be read, a sand unity ceremony and reading. I had no idea this was considered full-service.

Our budget is around $500 - I cannot wrap my head around paying over $1,000 for someone to officiate our wedding.

Does anyone have any ideas or know of any reputable officiants in the Chicago area who won't break the bank? Surprisingly, this part of the planning process has been the most stressful.

I'm in a fairly expensive area, and I haven't found anyone who charges more than 300 or so.
Have you looked on Yelp or Wedding Wire?
I am surprised potential vendors are giving you a 1 to 2 hour presentation. I'd be very leery of anyone who has that kind of time.

We've looked on WeddingWire and The Knot - I'm currently searching on Thumbtack. We had no idea what we were getting into once the presentation started.

You may want to research how one can become lealized to officiate and have a family member or friend do it for free or at an affirdable price.

Barry Bradford! If you search him by his name or by “Wonderful Wedding Officiant” on the Knot, you’ll find him. We had several calls with different officiants too and as soon as we talked to Barry, we knew he was perfect. He did our small ceremony a month ago and we’re having him come back and “marry” us again next July for our postponed big wedding.

I asked him for short and sweet this time around and his readings and words were perfect. We’ll have a much more personal and longer ceremony come July which I’m so excited to work with him on!
Also, super inexpensive. He charges $350 and you don’t pay him until after the ceremony and unless you are completely satisfied. Message me if you have any questions Smiley smile or I even have a video of our short ceremony if you want to see it to get an idea of what he does
