Officiating with an iPad

Brittany, on November 21, 2012 at 7:23 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 11

FH suggested that our officiator (his best friend) should use an iPad during our ceremony. I really like the idea...but I was wondering if any of you have done this and if you had an ideas as to how to put it on the iPad. I know I could just type it all in notes, or I was thinking maybe typing them on my computer and then transferring them as images to the iPad. What are your thoughts?

I don't have an ipad, so I'm not sure which would be easier, but what a fun idea! I really wanted to have our vows on our phones to use (as a small tribute to us) but alas I forgot all about it and I don't really regret not doing it ;P
But the ipad is nice, just make sure he/she is comfortable using it and holding it, otherwise it could look awkward..

Haha, I'm sure he will be alright holding it. I just want to make sure it's convenient!

I have one and I love it, but give me paper on the day. Reading from an Ipad seems just too McDonald's like to me......just me.

I'm super paranoid but I'd be afraid something might go wrong. What if the app he's using to read the ceremony crashes in the middle? What if it runs out of batteries?

    I told you I'm paranoid...

Would glare on the screen be a problem? I don't have one, so don't know the answer.

    No, it wouldn't, Nancy T.

I'm not worried about any issues that could arise with using the actual iPad. I am just asking if anyone knows of a more convenient way to put the ceremony on it.

I dunno, seems too product placementy to me. Like what Celia said. But to each their own. Although during the ceremony DH's parents skyped in on my computer, a toshiba, makes for fun photos. :-)

Is there something special the ipad does for the ceremony that you are wanting to do with it, or are you just using a word document that you are reading there, or like recording with it to?

You could put it in a word doc, email it to yourself then open the doc. Sometimes the format for word docs doesn't work right in which case you could do it in notepad.

    Fun idea!
