Oh Dear Goodness - Selecting Music is my #killingmesmalls Moment

Kelly, on August 14, 2019 at 2:39 PM Posted in Planning 1 4

Is anyone else driving themselves crazy with the music selection (I'm not talking about dance music, but the procession music). I keep second guessing myself, again, and again and again... and sadly again.

This is what I currently have:

Prelude songs all acoustic guitar instrumental

Parents prelude: Jesu, Joy of Man's Desire

Bridal Party: A Thousand Years

Bride: Canon in D

Recession: Signed, sealed delivered

Reception music:

My parents: Come & Get Your Love (my dad is apparently going to dance like Chris Pratt - I lost this agreement and have made peace with it).

FIL: No idea yet

Wedding Party: Queen, Crazy, Little Thing Called Love

FH & I: Hall & Oats you make my dreams come true

First song: Shallow

Father/Daughter: Wildflowers/Tom Petty

Mother/Son: Cotton Field/Creedence Clearwater Revival - I'm not a huge fan of this song, but my FH dad used to sing it to him when he was little, and I love that they are incorporating something so sweet - so I made peace on this, and apparently will also be helping to teach my FH Texas 2 step before the wedding

Wedding Party (danced with their SO/Spouses): Stuck in the middle with you

Last song: Budapest (it took me an incredibly long time to decide on the last song, & I am sticking with this one … well I think Smiley smile)

How about you? What music are you thinking? Anything odd?

Picking songs was fairly easy for me, the only thing I struggled with was the reception entrances.....I just couldn't choose for the life of me, but ended up making a decision the day before the wedding and texting the DJ. This is the list of songs we used:

    Prelude:

"Better Place" - by Rachel Platten

"Like Jesus Does" by Eric Church

    "Everything" by Michael Buble'

"Bless This Broken Road" by Rascal Flatts

"Count on Me" by Bruno Mars

    Ceremony:

Walking in of the Grandmothers and Mothers- "What a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong

Processional- "Can't Help Falling in Love" by Elvis Presley

Bride's Processional- "At Last" by Etta James

Unity Ceremony- "God Gave Me You" by Blake Shelton

Recessional- "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" by Stevie Wonder

    Reception:

Bridal Party Intro- "Rock of Ages" by Def Leppard

Bride & Groom Intro- "For Whom the Bell Tolls" by Metallica

First Dance- "Danny's Song" by Loggins & Messina

Cake Cutting- "How Sweet it is to be Loved by You" by James Taylor

Father / Daughter Dance- "I Loved Her First" by Heartland

Mother / Son Dance- "Find Your Wings" by Mark Harris

Last Song- "Closing Time" by Semisonic

It was hard for me too aha. But for certain things I had my DJ suggest songs for so that helped.

Everything by Michael Bublé was almost our first dance song - it came down to that or Shallow and Closing Time was almost the Last song, but I couldn't get the movie Friends with Benefits out of my head.

Ha, my one co-worker also does DJ on the side & he has given me some feedback. He lives in CA so he isn't able to do the DJ himself.
