Ok Ladies I think I'm going to try a DIY....HELP (? heavy)

Mrs.Davis n 2011, on April 7, 2011 at 8:04 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 10

To save money I am going to try and make Pomanders for the tables. They will sit on cylinder vases with water jewels and a floating flower inside. I know most of you ladies are using these and DIY (because I got the idea from y'all lol)

Questions:

Can someone give me instructions?

Are they easy to do?

How long does it take?

Are they pretty affordable?

And also how do you get the pomander to sit on top of the cylinder without falling off?

For the water jewels can the sit in water along with the led light and flower or will the jewels continue to get bigger?

Thx y'all Smiley smile

I'll be back... but another question... idea....

That is a lot of detail for a centerpiece.... LED, submerged flower and a pomander on top.... I can't even find a good image to post....

Most do one or the other.... Submerged flower (with or without floating candle)

or Pomander on a vase or Eiffel tower vase.

Would you consider alternating them on the tables and have 2 different looks?

Another idea.. have the pomander in a low vase and submerged in a tall?

I am making mine out of tissue paper...I went that route cause it was the cheapest. They are time consuming, but with what i am saving money wise i dont mind to spend the time to do. I am Stay at home mom ne ways. One website says When the polymer has finished hydrating the appearance will look like a crystal clear pearl ball that is about 1/4" to 3/8" diameter. So they eventually stop getting bigger. With mine i dont think im going to put the tissue flowers all around, Im only filling half the styrofoam ball....Saves money and sits better on the vase.

@ Hayley...pic 2 was the exact photo I got the idea from but with less jewels and I want pic 3 also

My flowers r yellow roses and white calla lilies and we will have a mixture of round tables that seat 8 and square tables that seat 12

On the rounds I thought about just doing the 10 inch cylinder with the pomander (rose), led and jewels (bottom only) with the floating calla lily sitting on the mirror with rose petals around it

And the square tables (huge) will have cylinder with rose pomander and filled with the jewels and on each side I want a set of 3 cylinders 10, 7 and 6 inch with the submerged flower and floating candle

The square tables are huge so I wanted more on those tables

Do u think it's to much?

The big tables I agree need the bigger centerpiece. Here is an example of a table of 10, almost your size... they do 3 centerpieces.... I think a ground of 3 cylinders, one pomander, then 3 more cylinders is gonna look like a lot!

The second picture is also a table of 10 and they just put a really big one in the middle and then table runners to make the centerpiece more weighted. Maybe you can do runners to add weight and less cylinders?

And the round tables.. do you have an example of this floating calla lily? A round 8 does not have much room. You might just want the pomander. Check out this table.. it has no favors, wine bottles, salad dressing, or plates and it already looks full.

I don't know about the pomanders but I'm doing aqua beads and led lights. I bought my led lights at www.codwholesale.com and make sure that you get the submersible kind. Also, I just discovered that I'm going to need 2 in each bowl in order for them to glow bright enough for them to show. Happy DIY'ing!

I made 8 pomanders for my ceremony to hang from hooks. I was able to find nice looking flowers, and 4 inch styrofoam balls at the dollar tree. I used about 4 bushes of flowers for each ball and they ended up being about 8 inches round after the flowers were added.

I spent about $40.00 to do 8... so I think that is pretty awesome!

I do not know if you have a michaels near you but they have spring bushes on sale for $.79 cents a bush.
