Ok to wear a different ring?

Tsheaby, on January 17, 2022 at 9:26 AM Posted in Married Life 0 3
Hello everyone! Just celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary in August. 🥰 my question up for discussion is this - Is it okay to wear a different (more blingy) ring on occasion?

We have yet to get real wedding bands… we thought we would wait to see what we like and then BAM a pandemic really seems to be erasing time, doesn’t it?! So here we are. I wear my engagement ring with a cheap sterling silver one. I love love love my engagement ring though is on the simpler side & nothing fancy, it is a beautiful family heirloom. Sometimes though I feel like wearing something bigger or a different cut with some visual “bling”, similarly to when I sometimes just want to wear my silicone band.
So I have been looking at some 1-2ct moissy rings and obviously want to get a “set” since I don’t have a real wedding band yet to pair with. I’m talking cheapest of the band tiers here with sterling silver band. Etsy and even Amazon have some super cute sets! Problem is, I’m not sure my husband will feel too thrilled that I am experimenting with something significantly fancier with more “wow” factors.
Thoughts on mixing it up a bit? Thanks!

Honestly, were I in your position, I would talk to my husband about it. I know I was wearing my silicone band (we were getting ready to leave for vacation and I don't wear my good set when we might be swimming) and commented how much I hate it and he didn't realize I didn't have my actual set on and was upset until I specified that it was the silicone band. Your husband might not react the same way - but mine would likely be *very* unhappy if I was looking for another set. Your husband may not react the same, since 1 - your engagement ring is an heirloom, not something he specifically picked for you and 2 - you don't yet have your "real" bands.

Rather than get a more blingy ring to wear in place of your engagement ring, why don’t you get a beautiful bling y wedding band to spice it up and add some real sparkle to your finger! Since your engagement ring is quite plain, you could get away with just about anything for a wedding band.

You could also add several bands to create a beautiful stack

Or you could get an enhancer to add bling and interest to your current engagement ring
