Old, New, Borrowed and Blue

Danielle, on October 12, 2020 at 8:54 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12

What did/are you guys doing? I have baby blue ballet slippers and my dress, veil or headpiece can be new. I'm going to wear a pearl bracelet that was my fiance's grandmother's. Would that be old or borrowed? She gave it to me to keep and has since passed, so I'm leaning more toward old. Then what is borrowed? My parents didn't have a traditional wedding (it was them and one witness, at a campground, in regular clothes) My sister just recently got married but postponed her reception too, so there's nothing she would really have to lend me, and none of the women in my family wear much jewelry anyway. I have no idea what else I could or would wear or carry.

My old was earrings that belonged to my husband's grandmother and I pinned them to my bouquet. My something new was my dress. My something blue was socks since I wore converses. My something borrowed was my mom's tennis bracelet. Is there something you could borrow from your fiancé's side?

Do any of the men in your families wear cufflinks or maybe a special pin from like freemasons? You could even borrow a bobby pin from a friend, it doesn't have to be a grand thing, something small could work too.

My dress is obviously my something new. My ring set is something old- my family brought it from Ireland when they immigrated in the late 1800’s. I’m using my mother’s pearl earrings for something borrowed. And my FH will be wearing his uniform as my something blue ☺️

I'm planning on not following this hymn. I felt like I was forcing certain attire or accessories in order to do so.

I’m just combining the new, old and borrowed into one item. My mom has one of her mom’s cameo earrings. Mom had it reset into a necklace pendant (my aunt has the other earring and reset it into a ring). The cameo came out of the setting and it was gold anyway so my mom is going to have it reset into new silver necklace fir me to wear. Old cameo, new necklace, borrowed from my mom.
I haven’t decided on a blue something yet but I think I may just have some vinyls made fir the bottom of my shoes. Either “something blue” or “I do”.

Your something old can also be your something borrowed. I’m using my grandmothers pearls for both.

My old and borrowed are the same thing for me. It is a broken necklace of my late grandmothers, that my mom has had sitting in her drawer! It is technically not borrowed anymore, but that's what I did haha! My something blue are my custom Converse shoes and my something new is my dress!
