Older bride

Lynn, on June 4, 2016 at 12:33 PM Posted in Planning 1 12

Hi, any older brides out there? I'm in my mid 50s, hard to believe since I don't feel it. We plan to get married next year (going through the catholic annulment process). Wanting to know if there are any other mature 2nd time brides out there and what type of wedding/reception you're having

    I guess I am older (than most here, I think). I'm 41 and a 2nd time bride.

We are a "more mature" bride and groom. Both of us have been married before. As for the wedding/reception...we are going all out!!

Our viewpoint is that we can afford it - rather than when younger and had to go into debt or not do it. We've had lots of "oh you aren't doing that are you?" or "But it's not your first, why bother?" Ummmm....because we love each other, are making a commitment to one another and just because it is not our first does not mean it is not as important.

I'll be 53 and he's older and we are having a traditional church wedding with the gown and reception and a DJ and food and drinks! And I'm going to wear a long veil just because I like it! I hope I won't look silly. My gown has simple lines and I'm adding bling to the belt. Oh and I bought the cutest little strappy kitten heeled sandals I am having dyed red to match my bridesmaids gowns. Only two BM.

2nd time around for me and him.

I will be 51 next summer when we get married, and he will be 46. It is the first marriage for both of us. Originally, we were going to do a small, simple backyard wedding with 50 guests. For various reasons we are now at a 140 guest list (which I am fine with) and the ceremony and reception will be on a farm. We have decided that we are going to just party it up! Might as well!!

Thanks! You all make me feel better because I chose a real wedding gown. A few reasons.... I wanted to look like a bride, I didn't have one the first time and we will be married in a church. Still debating on the type of reception.

I'll be 46 & this is my first marriage. FH is 45 & this is his second. Ours is a relatively small (72 people) wedding.

I'm 41, FH is 46. 1st wedding for both of us. We are having a fairly traditional wedding with 50 guests, civil ceremony, dinner, dancing. I am wearing an ivory lace dress.

There are some thing I would have probably done differently if I was in my 20s or even 30s-probably larger, less "mellow", bouquet toss, etc.

We're both in our 40's and second time around. We're doing it up. Big church wedding and reception. I'm rocking a wedding gown and long veil, too. Have fun and have the celebration that you both want!

Lynn, you're a kid! My oldest groom was 90 and his 'child bride' was only 78!

I am a 50 year old first time bride and my groom is 59. We wanted a small wedding but it's escalated into a guest of 140! Embracing the love and this wonderful time! We are going to party!

Finding this site has really helped me. I am 55 and finance is 59. I was a little worried about planning a big wedding due to age and being our second wedding... thank you to all you lovely brides!!
