Older Flower Girl Dresses

Abby, on October 9, 2018 at 9:37 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9
We're having two flower girls at our wedding because my FH wanted to use both of his nieces which is great. They are a little older though (11 and 8), so I'm trying to find affordable dresses for them. I'm trying to help keep costs down for their family since they'll have to buy two dresses plus groomsman attire. Any suggestions on where to find dresses for them? I'm wanting them in like a dusty rose color.

My daughter is 9 and very tall and thick. I couldnt find not a thing!! Davids Bridal was a joke, azazie only has 4 choices, I dont trust sites like jj house. So we found a seamstress. My daughter chose 2 dresses she likes from jj house. The seamstress will make her a custom dress combining the styles of both dresses my daughter liked. The dress will be designed later this month but wont be made until april, may wedding, so we can be sure it will fit her perfectly, shes growing like a weed.

Daughter's FGs will be 10 & 5. There were two options she liked at David's, each was $39, and comes in sizes up to girl's 14. The girls' mom took them to try them on (they live in another state than we do), and she chose the dress the girls liked better. Another option since your wedding isn't until spring is to just give their mom basic parameters like color, length, etc., then let her shop the after holiday sales. If she doesn't find anything, that should still be enough time to order from David's.

Hi Abby!! There are many great options out there for your flower girls. Dusty rose is such a beautiful color and can come in some awesome styles. I recommend looking at Etsy, Dessy, and JJsHouse. The prices range on each site and depending on what you think is an appropriate price, you can definitely find it between those stores.

Have you thought about a style or fabric? Are you thinking long chiffon, or something more traditional - white/ivory with a dusty rose sash?

    Here are some examples:

That might be a good idea! I can be kind of picky about things so it's hard for me to let go and let other people do things sometimes! Something I'm working on lol!

Daughter is picky, too, but when she thought about it she decided of all the decisions she has an opinion about, this was definitely a low priority. She came up with her most basic priorities for the little girls, then turned it over to their mom (who is a BM and all four of her kids are in the wedding -- 2 FGs and 2 RBs, so daughter wanted to give her as much control and make it as easy/inexpensive for her as possible). The four kids are going to be in a few photos and other than that it doesn't really matter all that much; they'll be cute no matter what.

I hope you had a wonderful wedding and found the best dresses for your little princesses. Those who are wondering the same thing, I’d suggest you look online for boutiques and shops to buy from. It’s also recommended to ask your friends or family for recommendations. Who knows they might know a great shop, saving you more time from searching for one yourself.

When I was planning my wedding, I also had flower girls with ages from 9 to 11. It’s kinda tough to look for cheap dresses given their height and built. So what I did was asked my wedding planner for a recommendation, and she suggested this flower girl dresses shop. I’ve set my budget a little high because I want quality clothes, and I got them. My only advice is you do the same thing, considering that this event is just once in a lifetime (well, usually lol).
