Older2nd time around brides?

Doreen, on January 30, 2020 at 7:41 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 50
Hello Ladies, are there any older brides doing this as a 2nd, 3rd or maybe 4th time around? My FHhad a JOP wedding with his wife of 30yrsand she passed away. We are having a barn/winery wedding and I am getting some backlash from qmy sister sand some GF that I should have done JOP as well. I willbe wearing dress for MOB style..no white ball gown for me. And yes it's my 3rd. First husband was a drunk and abusive. 2and one was a baby and took me for so much money. He left for up to 6 mo at a time. I'm so glad to be rid of him. My FH is a dream come . I am so very happy and dont cry any more.

Congratulations! I’m not sure what you consider older, but I’m 47 and my FH will be 52. Both our second marriages. If you wanted a Jop wedding that’s one thing but you should not have to do one as if you’re ashamed of getting married again! This is the first time you two are getting married so it should be like every other first time bride. I am wearing a proper wedding gown, FH a tux and we are doing the full shebang with all the extras! Life is too short to not do things how you want.

Congrats on finding your person! I was 44 & H was 43 when we got married, my second his first marriage. We did the winery rehearsal dinner and barn wedding. Super laid back but so much better the second time around! No one can tell you what you "SHOULD" do for your wedding no matter what age and what marriage this is. It's only something you and your FH can decide. Some people feel the need to state their opinions even when not asked, just to be rude & make you feel a certain way! Enjoy your planning and marrying the man of your dreams!

This will be my 3rd wedding and my Fiances 2nd wedding. But we are having a big wedding and getting married in the church and reception at a venue. If you want a big wedding have a big wedding if you want jop then do jop. Tell people it's not their choice it's yours and your fiance.

This will be my second marriage. I was married at 19 the first time and it lasted 12 years. I'm 42 and my fiance will be 40 next week.

I’m a first time bride, but I will be a few days from 50 years old when I walk down the aisle. I was engaged years ago to my daughter’s father, but I left him while we were planning our wedding. He too became abusive. I am also getting married at a vineyard! I am thinking about wearing a MOB dress. I don’t want to look like I’m trying to be years younger. I’m getting all stressed out looking and trying on dresses. I just don’t like how I look. So... doing more online looking today.
Who will be officiating your wedding if not a JOP?

Love your answer! I am 49 and this is my first wedding! I’m doing it all! Well... I’m having dress issues so that may be more of a long cocktail gown. I haven’t found a wedding dress that looks good on me!

Hello Jacqueline, I'm wearing a MOB dress in SILVER. Look on line at the Ursula collection
I tried my dress on yesterday and came out of dressing room all smiles. I am a larger bride but losing. I want to drop at least 10-20 lbs before the wedding . Dont be stressed.. it's your day.

Thank you so much for the dress tip. I will check them out! I’m a bit bigger too... so many dresses don’t flatter. I had surgery this past summer and put in a bit more weight. But... he loves me regardless and I am so blessed!

It's your wedding. I don't care how many times you get married, if you're paying for it (which I'm assuming you are at this point), then to hell with what anyone else thinks you "should" do.

I'm getting ready for my own 2nd marriage at 37 (his first) and we're doing a full ceremony & reception, dress, etc. We're paying for it so anyone else's opinion is moot.

To be honest, my first wedding was VERY minimal and cheap (less than 3K all told). Even though we're still not going crazy with this wedding, I'm pretty excited to go through a more traditional, full on wedding/reception.

By the way, a winery wedding sounds FANTASTIC for a 2nd/3rd/4th wedding.
