OMG...$6600 dress.

USF_Bride, on September 12, 2012 at 4:54 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 16

So, I was watching Say Yes to the Dress and this girl was looking for a dress for her debutante ball and she ended up getting a $6,600 Pnina dress! I can't even imagine what her wedding and wedding dress will be like. She's what, about 16? Wow! Lucky girl...

Well, if she is having a Deb Ball, she can certainly afford it. ; )

FH and I often have converstions that "if" we had that type of money "if" we'd buy stuff like that. We say no, probably because we don't...but who knows if you did!

I just can't wrap my head around that though...

I work hard for the money I make as well as my parents, I couldn't imagine spending that amount, not even for my wedding!

I was going to say the same thing as Lizz... I'm sure a girl like that would definitely scoff at a $6600 car.

I'd like to say I wouldn't spend $6600 on a dress but as Jennifer said, if I was totally loaded and could afford, say, a $40k wedding AND a house AND a car... Hell yeah I'd buy a crazy expensive dress, hahah.

Well that's the thing.. You work hard for your money but even still, a $6600 dress would probably be a stretch for you. It's not for her though, and she doesn't work hard for her money (or work at all), sooo it's a lot easier to just throw it away.

I didn't spend much on my dress because I had other things that I wanted to spend money on, like booze and the venue. But if I had a ton of money I wouldn't have had to think about it as much.

On a side note, the women in that episode that lost all the weight, go them! Some lost 130#, that's amazing!

Not lucky, spoiled. No 16 year old needs a $6000 Pnina dress!

Shannah, I don't think it is fair to call her spoiled as we don't know her. : ) Her parents are obviously socially registered, which is why she is coming out at the Debutante Ball. They could be millionaires and in that case, $6K is chump change for them. It's her way of life.

Would I spend it? Heck no! I am one frugal lady. I know I could find it on sale and with a coupon somewhere. ; )

Socially speaking I understand some things. FH's family is well off and I understand WHY his sisters wedding is costing so much. But I still do think that the $6000 in unnecessary for a dress for a 16 year old, no matter what the income.

I agree. It is not necessary. But calling her spoiled for what is her norm is like saying all brides who do the Dollar Dance at their wedding are tacky or Italians who use bridal purses are tacky. It's an unfair generalization.

Hi to everyone who commented on my daughter's episode. Thank you to all who were kind and not judgemental. For those who werent we hope you will see it from both sides.

The cool thing about this dress is she will be wearing it twice! How many others can say that? Smiley smile

Please also know that Molly was adopted and has gone through so much in her short life due to her biological background.

Her daddy has also worked very hard to start his own business, was from a single parent family himself, and has earned every penny he is able to spend on his family. Molly was very appreciative of the opportunity to be on the show and have this gorgeous dress.

Thank you again for those who were kind and supportive!
