OMG! Pregnancy test is positive!

LC, on May 27, 2011 at 12:38 PM Posted in Married Life 0 77

I'm still in shock. I just took it just to see... because I have been feeling weird the past 4 days, cramps and my boobs are super sore and have been sooo emotional... My period was due yesterday... I dont even know how I feel... I could barely pee! I had just gone a while ago but I thought what the heck, its probably just my imagination. So I was suppossed to hold the stick on the stream for 5 seconds and since I had just peed it was only there 2 seconds so I thought, its going to mess up the resutls but there they are, TWO SOLID RED BARS! I am happy but... Our insurance cover maternity only if conepction happens 30 days

Our insurance covers maternity only if conception happens 30 days. What does that mean?

And congratulations! That's so exciting Smiley laugh My bff just had my godson two days ago.

Congrats!! Just don't call the doctor for another 15 days, or set the appt up for 15 days from now.. I didn't have insurance until after i got preggers. I called them after I got the card and set up the appt for after the 30 day mark. Nobody ever knew the difference. Smiley smile

@ Missy K - For my insurance it was considered a pre-existing condition if you got pregnant before you've had your insurance for 30 days.

Congrats, but also, yikes--pregnancy can be really expensive. Would your doctor be willing to fudge the numbers for you a little, or are there supplementary programs for which you're eligible?

ETA: It sounds like they're saying "conception" to avoid the kind of thing that FMB did, but maybe you'll get lucky. I'd just be upfront with the doctor right away about how due date estimation and whatnot on your paperwork might affect your coverage, and see if they can help you out.

@missy, read the second part of my post. Hahaha sorry.

thanks future mrs bansmer, I will wait to make the appointment. OMG! Dreams can be true! I think I know the day I conceived. I dreamed that I was holding a baby girl, but I had my eyes closed so I couldnt see her. I cannot wait to tell my husband when he comes back from work. I know its still too early, I hope everything goes well and it is for SURE a pregnancy.

I'd say just wait to go to the doctor.. You probably won't get the full ultrasound anyway if you're only 3-4 weeks in anyhow, so just wait on it and make sure and take care of yourself until then. But congrats! Smiley smile

Yeah, a lot of OBs won't do a u/s until 8 weeks, unless you have symptoms or a history of problems.

@FMS: Did you miss my return intro post? :p

Thank you ladies! I always said I wanted my husband to be the first one to know but I just HAD TO SHARE IT WITH SOMEONE! Hahaha. Also, I have heard that its best to wait 12 weeks before announcing it to family and friends, is that true? I am very pessimistic, I hate being like that. I read somewhere that ovarian tumos can also give a positive pregnancy tests, or that ectopic pregnancies have the same symptoms. I know, I know, pessimistic big time.

So funny, because my mom called me yesterday and told he she dreamed that I had a baby boy! Hahaha. So she asked me if I was pregnant. I had my suspicions but I told her no, not that I know.

Think of a fun cool way to share the news with your Hubby!

And yes, I would say wait 3 months to tell the news to people...been down that road and its awful when something happens!

Prayers for you and your little nugget!

Yes, wait.. this is a very exciting time but things can change quickly in the first trimester so just make sure to take good care of yourself, sleep well, take your prenatal vitamins, avoid foods you shouldn't eat (you can research to see what's dangerous for baby) and try not to stress or lift too much during this time. Pay close attention to what your body is telling you and don't argue with it.. Smiley smile I was pregnant once and I miscarried (no, don't be scared) and it happened right after I told FH.. we were heartbroken.. I had to tell my close friends about it since they knew about the prenancy and it just made it that much harder.. I really should have waited, but I was too excited. Like I said, it's really early for you so just take it easy and maybe in a couple weeks once your 30 days are up, go ahead and go to the doctor so they can make sure your pregnancy is moving along as it should be.

Oh yea.. sprite and soda crackers, load up on them. It will help with nausea. Smiley smile Congrats aga

Awww yay! Congrats ... just wait a little while, and at about the 10 week mark you should be good ... to tell friends and family, but I'd tell your Mom right away and ask her not to tell anyone else ...

Thanks for the advise jen. I will research on what not to eat or drink.

The weird thing is I have not had nausea! Isn't that a blessing? I have two sisters that have babies and they had no symptoms whatsoever so I'm guessing I will be as lucky as them! Smiley winking The only symptoms I have is I am extremely emotional. I have cried like crazy for the silliest things. I have had cramps, especially at night, also my boobs are super sore and they look alot bigger! I like that! Hehehe

Oh, and that metallic taste in the mouth is true! Yesterday I was even like "Did I bite myself or something.?"
