I'm still in shock. I just took it just to see... because I have been feeling weird the past 4 days, cramps and my boobs are super sore and have been sooo emotional... My period was due yesterday... I dont even know how I feel... I could barely pee! I had just gone a while ago but I thought what the heck, its probably just my imagination. So I was suppossed to hold the stick on the stream for 5 seconds and since I had just peed it was only there 2 seconds so I thought, its going to mess up the resutls but there they are, TWO SOLID RED BARS! I am happy but... Our insurance cover maternity only if conepction happens 30 days

I took two more tests and it wanst until the 3rd one where it hit me! I started crying of happiness. I guess I still couldnt believe it but the 3 tests, not even took 30 seconds to show the two red lines! I already know how I'm going to tell my husband. I dont wanna make a big deal for him because I know miscarriages happen and he would be heartbroken.

@wonderful moment: Where is Baby center? Here?

@ alice p: Yes, we were trying. I was a virgin when I got married and was hesitant about birth control, especially the pill, since it prevents implantation, so both DH and I did not like that. We are both Christians so we just decided to leave it in God's hands. Actually, the last 2 times I got my period, hubby was a little disappointed, he wants a baby so much. I hope he doesnt faint! hahaha

So LC, how did hubby take the news?? Smiley smile I think thats great you waited. I'm not taking the pill either, but for completely different reasons...I've heard the hormones in the pills can be a contributing factor to getting breast cancer, and I'm not taking any chances as my mom had it...

Anyways I'm sure your pregnancy will be great, you are young and healthy and that is what tryuly matters Smiley smile good luck you guys!!

LC, first off, congratulations! But I also wanted to tell you the pill doesnt prevent implantation - it prevents you from ovulating an egg... so there's never conception to start off with. I'm also Christian, so I took that as you saying it (for lack of a better word) kills the baby by preventing implantation, but thats not what it does. Just so you know. Smiley smile

@Sarah, I don't think that's what she meant. I think she meant that they decided to put the conceiving in God's hands - not the birth control part being a bad christian thing to use, am I right LC?

I do know many women who think using birth control is against what God wants. Everyone is entitled to their own beliefs. I also know a lot of women who are extremely paranoid about birth control, because there is the .5% chance it could make them infertile. I'd rather risk it than have a kid before I'm ready, personally.

That wasn't my intention, Holly. When I'm ready thats what I totally plan to do, too. I'm just saying that what she said about the pill is incorrect, just wanted her to know that.

@Sarah, oops! Okay, I can't read anything right! But, I repeat - many women are paranoid about the pill. I am not one of them, lol. My best friend was on the pill for YEARS and thought it would take awhile to get pregnant so decided to start trying...didn't even get a period after quitting!

@ Holly - I totally get it, its so hard to figure out exactly what someone means online. Looking back at my response to your comment, it almost sounds harsh and that's not how I am!! Smiley smile

Yeah the pill can be a scary thing, but it usually just takes time and trial and error. The first few I was on did not help at all, then finally came upon the right hormone combo. Smiley winking

LC - I really am very happy for you! (and jealous! haha) How did it go when you talked to your husband?! I can't wait to be in the same boat as you. Smiley smile

Sarah already pointed out that the Pill doesn't prevent implantation. Just fyi, BC doesn't cause infertility, either. Some forms of BC take a long time to wear off (ahem, Depo), or people who were on BC for a long time go off and then discover that they have fertility issues, but the BC didn't cause them. It just masked them.

The major problem with the Pill is that it just isn't that effective, for those of us who do want to use BC. Its effectiveness goes down dramatically if you don't take it in the same half hour window every day, or if you ever have any kind of stomach issues (this is another reason people often claim Depo reduces fertility--they're comparing it to the Pill, and don't realize that it's just actually super effective).

The first trimester is really delicate, BUT "false positives" are nearly non-existent with HPTs. What sometimes happens is that an egg implants long enough to register a positive, but then doesn't stick--what's known as a chemical pregnancy. In those cases, the person will get a positive but have a period on time or only a little bit late. The body reacts basically as if pregnancy had not occurred, which is why it's not considered a miscarriage. But it's still not a "false positive."

It's much less likely to happen with a solid test line, though! (More likely when people get a very faint line early on.) Sticky thoughts!

    Congrats!

As for your insurance not covering it due to a pre-existing condition.... Check to see if you can view your benefits online. Pre-existing condition has mostly been done away with due to healthcare reform, but some companies have kept it (if they're considered a "grandfathered" group). And also, when pre-existing was more common, alot of companies did not consider pregnancy pre-existing.

Can you tell I work in insurance? lol
