On a budget with hair and makeup

Hey guys. I don't have a lot to money spend on hair and makeup so I decided to let my friend's daughter do a test run. She's in the cosmetology field. She's not charging me anything other than for the experience. She told me she has never work with Asian features before either. I helped her out by buying my own foundation shade and supplying her with some products I know I like and works. After the trial, I felt I could of just my own makeup better and in less time. I had the look on for the whole day and it didn't last. I'm afraid that when the day comes my makeup would of melted off in a hour in the hot heat.

Hair wise, I asked for some simple loose waves because I was taking engagement pictures afterwards. I got tight curls and crunchy hair. Granted it fell out a little bit afterwards but it wasn't what I was looking for.

Is this one of those you get what you paid or not paid for situation? She knows I wasn't 100% with the look or hair and says she knows what to do next time. I live out of state and can't just schedule another time with her or another professional. What would you guys do? I know I can do my makeup. Hair wise, I would like some help. My hair has been thinning out over the years due to health issues. I now have thin and long but voluminousness hair. I wanted a way to add thickness. I thought about hair extensions for some added thickness and texture but I may just forego it and live with the hair I have.

Should I somehow find a way to ask the money tree (wallet) to grow a few more leaves and hire a professional to do my hair and makeup? I know my bridesmaids are doing their own hair and makeup.

Here's some inspirations.

I would hire someone unless you feel confident you can do a good job. Hair and makeup for a wedding needs longevity and needs to be what you want and I'm not sure your friend can deliver.

I agree with Neeva. It’s worth it in the end bc you want it to last all day/night. Not smudge, fade , uncurl or anything

Hey there, Pang. These inspo pictures are beautiful. I love the hair Smiley love

It's important that you feel confident and comfortable on your wedding day.

I would suggest trying a trial on yourself and see how you feel. If you're not happy with the outcome, it may be best to book a professional if you have the budget to do so.
