Hello Everyone! So I met someone recently that overheard my friend and I talking about my wedding and the location, we'll call her Tracy. Coincidentally, Tracy's friend's daughter just got married at our venue in September, which is super helpful with tips, etc. So Tracy and I got to talking. This whole time, we really wanted to stick with our theme and try to find all mismatched antique dinner plates, salad plates, water goblets and flatware. Totally our style and fits the decor of the whole day. Lisa's friend, we'll call her Stacy, did this exact same thing for her daughter's wedding and happens to still have everything! Lisa put me in contact with Stacy and we had a really great discussion. At first, we had talked about the potential of us just renting all of it from her, but she has decided that she would like to just unload all of it and get rid of it. I haven't been given a definite price yet on buying everything but Stacy did state that she would sell the items to me for what she bought them for. Which seems like a great deal considering renting anything like this can end up adding a ridiculous cost on top of everything else. If I'm not mistaken, Stacy bought each piece for anywhere from $0.25 to $1.00. She is currently out of town until next week but the FH and I plan to go over and see everything in person.
I guess what I'm trying to ask is, who has experience with this/has done this/is planning to do this and how will I know I am getting a decent deal? Ideally, my mom and I would scour thrift stores and antique malls for them ourselves as it is a favorite past time of ours, but my parents currently live on the west coast (I'm in Ohio) so we jut don't have the ability to do this. I don't mind having to actually buy everything because I am savvy enough to resell online or even get a booth at a wedding resale event but I want to make sure we won't be getting screwed. If it seems like it's not a good deal, I'm assuming our next best bet is to just start the hunt ourselves.
I have also included the few pictures that Stacy sent me so far of her items so you guys can get a feel for what we're looking for should it come down to having to search for the items ourselves. All in all, anyone out there with experience in this department? Any advice is greatly appreciated!
