One year anniversary vacation , European tour?

Alejandra, on January 10, 2020 at 7:20 PM Posted in Married Life 0 5

So my husband and I will have our one year wedding anniversary in March and we were originally planning to go to the Mayan Riviera in Mexico however, after recently discussing a change in dates that we plan to travel we decided to look into going to Europe instead of Mexico and touring a few different places, any recommendations on where to go or what to do, places to visit, etc. I was thinking originally of doing a cruise that would leave maybe Barcelona or another fun city but my husband claims that a ship is not for him right now so I was then looking into the best places to travel there, I def want to go to Barcelona as it has been recommended to me, Portugal is not far and but I want to make sure we make the most of these visits so I want to make sure we enjoy it. I have never heard amazing things about France other than for sightseeing so I am not crazy about that. We will also will not have a ton of time, I mean like not 3 weeks of vacation time, so it will be around 7 to 10 days. We don't mind trains or short plane rides to get to another destination so thats another plus.

Is Amsterdam too out of the way? Any help is appreciated WW Fam!

Share your own stories of vacationing with your sig-other, brownie points for Europe ideas!!!

xoxo

You have not heard great things about France?! What?! France is amazing!!

What kind of trip do you want? Relaxing? Foodie? Historical? Big city, countryside or beachside?
Since you’re super focused on Barcelona, perhaps do Barcelona and Madrid. Or a beachside town in Spain if the time of year is right. I know people who’ve done Barcelona, Madrid and Paris or London in that timeframe, but you will have to go through each city pretty quickly and prob want to fly to get between cities faster. Also that’d be a pretty metropolitan trip, not a lounging beach/countryside trip.

It really depends what kind of vibe you want but Italy is my favorite place ever. The Amalfi coast is beautiful and Napoli has the origggg pizza (and its amazing). Florence was probably my favorite city because it's culturally significant but also perfect layout for walking also TUSCAN WINE... but Rome is an obvious choice as well. My dream is a road trip through so we can go to all the dreamy small towns, but if you have to hit big spots only I'd suggest those three.

Efgoaheadtours are fun! They have lots of options are are almost completely inclusive with excursions, flight, internal transportation, some meals. We are planning one now. A lot of travelers (healthcare comrades) have used this and contiki to travel abroad! That span almost all continents. We are planning this for our honeymoon - the London to Rome tour.

    Hey there, Alejandra!

I too think this depends on what you two are in to as a couple and what you want out of the trip!

Lisbon in Portugal is a very popular destination at the moment, and it's not too far from Barcelona. It's roughly a 2-hour flight and there are so many European based budget airlines (Ryanair for example), you should be able to find something affordable! Lisbon to Amsterdam is only a 3hour flight then if you wanted to squeeze it in! Personally, I've been to Amsterdam a couple of years back and I think 2 - 3 days is enough time to hit the main sights!

Hey everyone, sorry I've been MIA but both hubby and I got really sick with the flu and hubby ended up with bronchitis and I've been playing worlds best nurse, lol.

So a few things that I def want to add to this thread is that

#1: Paris def has a lot of things that I want to see but its not a country that is on the top of my to see list right now.

#2: We want to sight-see and relax, maybe take some authentic cooking classes, food tours, see the nightlife and such.

So my mom and my sister went on a cruise two years ago in Europe and visited a few different countries, I asked them where they thought my husband and I would enjoy themselves most, they both said Barcelona is def a must which I totally had at the top of my list, they also mentioned many places in Italy.

Since hubby and I are still in the 2 week vacation time a year range at least for another two years we want to make sure we make the best of it so we decided to go to Rome, Italy and Barcelona, Spain, where we can spend about 5 days in each country and even add a holiday in between that gives us an extra day. We're going at the end of August/ beginning of September and we've already started looking at all of the activities that they offer and which ones we'd like to see. So if all goes well we'd leave from Los Angeles at the end of August the 29th, fly to Rome arrive the 30th and check in to our hotel or airbnb (still looking), then we'd stay there until about September 4th and fly out to Barcelona where we'd stay until the 9th and fly back home we'd then have a few extra days at home to get back into the norm. If we go this route the first day of our visit to each country would be catching up with the new time and getting used to it and from there we'd have 4 full days in each country to explore/relax and enjoy, day 5 in each country would be to travel.
