One Year- over prepared, not prepared enough

EGD, on September 2, 2021 at 11:17 AM Posted in Planning 0 6

I'm officially one year out from my wedding and I just wish it were here already!

I feel over prepared, made my own Google Spreadsheet, with tabs for literally everything I can think of, important dates, Tipping calculations, needed decor, bridesmaids and groomsman gifts, parents gifts, things to buy, honeymoon ideas.

But I still feel like I'm not prepared enough, I'm planning on DIYing almost ALL of my decor, and already purchased supplies to start practicing making the signs I want.

I'm just so worried this next year is going to go by so fast that I'm gonna run out of time.

We have a wedding in October this year, FH's brother has to postpone their August reception this year to February of next year due to theirs being cancelled by a storm threat to CT that never came so their reception is now going to be one we have to travel from CT to FL for, and then my Cousin gets married in July in a destination wedding. I feel like we have so much planned for this year, that I'm gonna lose time on everything I need to do for my wedding.

I know I'm prepared and I'm SO excited to marry my best friend, but I'm already a little stressed out.

I feel like I'm in a similar boat!! Since we postponed from 2020 to 2022, our wedding has been like 90% planned for the last year, and we're got around 11 months to go. Yet, I still feel like I'm way under prepared and running out of time. One thing that's helped me is to make a list of everything that still needs to be done (decor items, vendor payments, remaining wedding party gifts, honeymoon planning, writing vows, etc), and then focusing on one item at a time. Once I'm done with one task, I turn to the next. You still have plenty of time, and you'll get everything done! For DIY, I recommend starting that earlier than planned, just to give yourself extra time. Happy planning!

That’s exactly how I was. After we secured our venue, I ordered STD the next day. I had everything organized and every paycheck I ordered something that we would need and put money aside. Things will come up and there will be lots to do especially in the month before. It WILL be one of the most stressful things you’ve ever done. There’s really no way around it but just embrace it for what it is and take comfort in knowing that at the end you’ll have a beautiful day with your loved ones and partner.

Yes, I have a google spreadsheet already created and pretty much filled in! Broken out into tabs for various items and tasks, that includes Dates I need to pay people, schedule things, order things.

My Mom already ordered all the stuff for my center pieces, and I plan on starting to make practice signs within the next week or so.

I've been engaged since Christmas, and booked all the major vendors right away to ensure we got the ones we wanted. Then I put my planning on the back burner cause my FBIL was supposed to get married 2 weeks ago (wedding got cancelled by the venue due to a forecasted hurricane in CT that never came) and I was helping FSIL with stuff for their wedding. Now I'm regretting pushing my planning back.

I am six months out and in the same boat. It feels like I have so much to do yet nothing to do at the same time. Almost everything is purchased and it just feels like a lot of tedious list making.

I'm currently sitting here looking at my Etsy Cart that is totaling $608 contemplating if it's too early to be buying all my jewelry, and gifts for GM's and BM's.

It's a constant struggle of "not enough time" and "it feels too early to do this"
