Online rsvp Recommendations

Mandi, on May 6, 2019 at 2:04 PM Posted in Planning 0 8
Just trying to get a head start. I'm putting together my wedding website and I'm looking for my online RSVP options.

If you did online RSVPs...

What site did you go thru?

Was it free?

What did you like?

What did you dislike?

Did you have the option to password protect?

Would you recommend?

What site did you go thru? theknot.com

Was it free? Yes. But we did purchase a domain name for 1 year for 20 dollars so it was easier to type in for guests.

What did you like? There were lots of options. I haven't had any issues reported to me.

What did you dislike? I disliked that my registry was visible. I didn't link them but it automatically populated. I was able to hide that though so it I not visible to guests.

Did you have the option to password protect? I do believe that option is available but we did not utilize it.

Would you recommend? I would recommend the knot. I haven't had any issues.

We're still planning our wedding, but we picked our site partly based on its great RSVP features! I liked them a lot as a wedding guest and so far I can definitely recommend it as a bride.

-What site did you go thru? Zola

    -Was it free? Yes

-What did you like? The RSVP features are great. You can ask guests questions when they RSVP (meal options, song requests, dietary restrictions, etc.), and they make it easy for people to find their names in case you input them wrong or something like that.
-What did you dislike? They make it pretty easy for guests to RSVP as other people. If a guest in a big family types in just their last name, their form might pull up a whole list of all of the other guests with that last name. If that guest then selects someone else from the list, they could then RSVP on that person's behalf. But as long as you don't have any weirdly shady/petty guests then this wouldn't be a problem. I still prefer this over other RSVP sites where guests type in their email address to pull up their RSVP, which means you have to guess which email address the couple would have put down for you.
-Did you have the option to password protect? Yes
-Would you recommend? So far yes!

    Hi love!

I went through Minted. I have had a wonderful experience. They have website designs that directly match the invitations I'm sending, since I got my invites through them as well. They do have the option to password protect, though I didn't feel it was necessary. It's been really simple and no one has had any problems trying to RSVP on it! I think it looks beautiful, and it's pre designed so I really didn't have to do any work and it looks gorgeous!

What I dislike is that you can only have a few photos unless you upgrade to the $20 site then you can have a whole photo page! (and a custom url)

All other pages are customizable so you can remove the registry page.

Also just from creating a site, I got a $50 credit towards invitations, which really helped!

I would highly recommend at least giving it a look, they have beautiful designs!

We gave people the option of paper or online RSVP.

What site did you go thru? The Knot.

    Was it free? Yes.

What did you like? It's pretty easy to work & set up.

What did you dislike? This is more my fault, but changing the guest list (I uploaded it too early) was a little confusing. If I had just waited to upload it, it would be fine.

Did you have the option to password protect? I don't think so, but you could only RSVP if you typed in your name & it was on the guest list.

Would you recommend? Yes! More people are sending back paper rather than online, but the online option is nice.

Daughter used The Knot and was very happy. It worked well, was easy to set up, and free. She did 100% online RSVPs and had no problems. There were multiple events (wedding, rehearsal-welcome dinner) and menu choices, and everything worked perfectly. She did use a password, which was shared on the STDs (so people could start working on accommodations & travel arrangements if they wanted) and on the RSVP card that went with the invitations. She had no regrets.

We used Zola (someone already said it was free so there’s that). Overall it’s very simple for both guests and I and I like that about it. But honestly we’re struggling to get responses from people this way. They don’t seem to get that they have to do it this way, even when it’s been explained to them clearly. I’ve still had people ask why they didn’t receive an rsvp card in the mail even though they got the link.

We used Zola. At first, I was going to use WeddingWire but it turns out guests can't change RSVPs or menu choices and I wanted to leave that feature open.

The pros: I like the layout, guests can change RSVPs, you can ask questions and have them RSVP to multiple events, it seemed like the hip, millennial website, and you can put items from other websites onto your registry. We have a few one off items that we didn't necessarily put on registries but just listed them on Zola.

The cons: all the layouts have exactly the same photo format which heavily favors horizontal photos. Don't put anything too close up because you might be cut off. The photos section is weird. The photos are different sizes but when you click on the photo, it still shows up really small. The registry heavily favors Zola's own registry which I guess it to be expected but if you want to list other registries, its in tiny print under "Other Registries." On The Knot, it seems it auto-populates everything from all the registries to the website and seems a lot more user friendly. Zola's registry has a lot of good features like easy returns and exchanges and choosing when they ship butttt they don't have the variety of items I would like.

Too late now but if I were to do it again, I am not sure if I would have used Zola over The Knot.

I am using Zola! I just switched from WeddingWire. I created the website and it is on our save the date, but about 40% have not RSVPed yet and we are almost a week after the respond by date. I wanted to use WeddingWire since I had all the guest's information there, but the ability to message guests is down and I wanted to send an email to everyone who had not without having to type in email addresses. So I switched over to Zola (just copied over my spreadsheet to theirs and uploaded) since that is where our registry is. I really like their RSVP feature since you can ask questions and customize it more than WeddingWire. However, I noticed that if part of the family is invited to something, but not the other (I put in the bridal shower guest list to help out my cousin who is hosting and just had a baby), it includes everyone in that family. The only option is to not put guests in as families (which then make RSVPs annoying) or hope they do not RSVP to the other thing. I just manually down "declined" for those people (it was mainly guys). I also am bummed that it does not have a website tracker count like WeddingWire and there is no seating chart function. However, it is better than the other options for what I needed on a last minute's notice.
