Online RSVPs

Shirelle, on November 2, 2015 at 11:52 AM Posted in Planning 0 19

I was leaning towards going with an online service for keeping track of my RSVPs. I noticed there are quite a few options on there (evite.com, eventbite.com, rsvpify.com, theknot.com), and of course, the built in wedding-wire option.

Has anyone used any of these services/others to get their RSVPs done?

I ended up trying out a few myself:

    - Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.com

    - Weddingwire: https://www.weddingwire.com/

    - RSVPify: https://rsvpify.com/

    - AnRSVP: http://anrsvp.com/

And eventually I ended up going with RSVPify. What sold me on them was the ability to create secondary events, which kept everything in a neat little package. The interface was a little bit difficult to figure out at first, but their support went above and beyond for me. The only complaint I have is that it is not free if you want to go beyond 100 RSVP's... but for what it's worth, the subscriptions prices aren't too bad.

I will be using WW's. It seemed better than theknot, which allows anyone to write in their name (as far as I could tell). WW's has you search for your name, and then it only shows the events you're invited to (so like, your bridal party will see a rehearsal dinner but other who aren't invited won't). This also prevents extra uninvited +1s from being added.

I used The Knot. I liked it and the app was super easy to use to manage it (example someone texts me their RSVP instead of going online, I could just add it via app really easily).

Just make sure you enter each persons name and group them based on how you sent the invite (like list John Smith and Jane Smith as one party if you sent them one invite)

And make sure you enter their name as you wrote it on the invite because the instructions on RSVP page state that. I had a cousin, Eli, I addressed it as Mr Elijah Smith, but put Eli Smith in the RSVPs..... my fault but he didn't know how to RSVP because he was searching for the way it was addressed per the instructions.

So I am wondering how you would word this on your invite(how to RSVP online). Anyone have examples of how they did it?! =)

We are using WeddingWire's RSVP function, which can be confusing if you don't know how to format the Excel file they recommend to upload names. So far, it's been easy for my guests to RSVP online (I told them if they have trouble, try looking up by last name alone.)

We added a separate details card to our invitation that says "For more details and to RSVP, please visit (our wedding website address). RSVP by (date)." Hope this helps!

    @Bride2b

RSVPify has a sample that I looked at before setting mine up:

    https://julesandchipdemo.app.rsvpify.com/

You can also look up 'powered by RSVPify' on Google for more examples. If you're looking for something super simple, WW may be a better choice. It's easier to get started with, but I think it's only worth it if you need something really basic.

    Thanks Jamie!

I may do the RSVP by creating an email. We are having such a small wedding I would be able to manage. I think this would be easier for guest.

I had the formal invite, where it stated "you are cordially invited to the wedding of X and Y at this time at this church" etc.

Then I had an enclosure card (just ordered business cards from vistaprint, but typed different info on it!) that said "kindly RSVP by August 20 at www.theknot.com/weddings/92615". I didn't need a normal sized RSVP enclosure since people weren't filling it out.

For older people like grandma's who wouldn't rsvp online, we just ordered a few traditional post cards and sent those to grandparents.

The only downside I see with emails, is it getting lost in SPAM or inbox. With the enclosure card, many people put the invite and RSVP card on their fridge, or important papers folder as a reminder to RSVP.

Also, I gave people 4 weeks to RSVP. WAY TOO LONG! We had many people RSVP right away but too many forgot because it was so long. I would suggest 2 weeks. Many people know yes or no, but those who still have to figure it out still get sometime. And then you aren't impatiently waiting for 4 weeks :-)

I use the wedding wire option and it was awesome. I received emails when someone RSVP's so I still got the excitement of receiving them. It tallied up our final numbers for us. I also used Wedding Wire's seating chart and was able to seat people as they excepted.

The only thing I would make sure is that when typing in the guest list make sure name are correct and you don't use nickname or anything because if they try and find themselves and it isn't exactly like you inputted it then they wont be able to find it.

Are online RSVP's becoming more and more common? Trying to determine if I should do that, or go with paper response cards.

We had 248 of 250 invited guests, respond 10 days before the due date, with RSVPs through our wedding website. I've been invited to 10 weddings, in the last 2 years, and I think 2 have had mail-in cards

So with the Wedding Wire RSVPs, I'm currently putting together the guest list. How to I indicate "plus one" for those invited who can bring a date? Do I have to indicate it as part of the household? I'm entering names so that I can start keeping track of addresses.

For most, we knew their names; if living together they shared an invitation, or they got their own invitation, if not. For others we entered them as John Smith and Guest Smith, as a party of 2.

If you do not know their names.. I did the same as @Dreamer... Jane Smith and Guest Smith (under one household). If I knew the guest name, I just input the guest name under the main person that was invited.

For example our MOH with a known name for her guest- I wrote her the household name as: "Ms. Jane Adams and Mr. John Smith" for the guests in the household: Jane Adams; John Smith

A groomsmen with an unknown name for his guest - I wrote the household name as: "Mr. John Smith" for the guests in the household: John Smith; Guest Smith

The invitations themselves: The inner envelope either listed both names OR said "John Smith and Guest".

I know that I can have the RSVP section on my wedding website, but how do I set it up on my side? I know that I need to upload my guest list to WW, but how do I set-up information such as entrée selection. I am having a hard time finding information about this service on WW. Any assistance is greatly appreciated!!
