Only 1 ring?

Angela, on October 18, 2021 at 3:25 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6
Anyone only have 1 ring? Long story short our asd non verbal 4 yr old flushed my engagement ring. We haven't replaced it and I'm not sure insure covers that. We are eloping in the next 60 days and looking at rings. I'm thinking of just getting 1 ring and maybe saving the band part for our 1 yr wedding anniversary. We have been together for 12 yrs and are far from traditional. Just want to know what others think. Go with only a engagement ring as the main ring or only get a wedding band? I'm not even sure I want 2 rings so I'm not sure I want to commit to a bridal set. We also plan on having matching silicone rings as he need it for his job.

I know it's primarily up to us what we decide but I would love to know what other non traditional brides are doing as well.

I would probably just go with a single wedding band and maybe add a new engagement ring in the future. A. the wedding band would most likely be cheaper and B. I tend to just wear my wedding band alone, without the engagement ring, a lot. So if I were to go with 1 vs the other, the wedding band would get more regular wear (I only ever take it off to shower, wash dishes, etc.).

I also would start with just the wedding band.
I adore my engagement ring but as a dental professional I guarantee my wedding band will get much more wear in the long run.

I didn’t want two rings. I tried both an e-ring & wedding band and I preferred the e-ring (married and still wear it everyday).

Call your insurance and tell them what happened. Worst thing that can happen is that they don’t cover it.

That said, if you’re only doing one, go with a wedding band.

This is what I would do as well.

I am probably going to barely ever wear my engagement ring after married, just my plain band. I am very active and rough with my hands, and don't want to damage it, plus I just like the classic look of a plain band.
