Only 50-60 Guests

Katie, on January 11, 2017 at 7:15 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 32

Has anyone been to a wedding of only 50-60 people? I really expected more along the lines of 100 but its looking more like 55. Also my venue is pretty large, it can sit 200! Its such a beautiful venue, the large glass windows are of the bay, beautiful sunset dinner. Im not having a buffet, we are doing sit down. Im afraid its going to look so empty now. I am going to try to keep 6-8 people per table instead of the usual 10, set up an hors d'oeuvres station, a popcorn/ candy bar, and the bar to try and fill up the room. I also will have the dj and photo booth also. I really wamted a head table with all of us (its just how i see it in my vision) but im afraid the room will look even more empty! Any other affordable suggestions??

We have an intended guest list of 60. But we also have a venue that is appropriate for that size. It's not the end of the world. Just work with what you have.

I love when there's actually space to move freely at wedding receptions. I've been to quite a few that had everyone pretty squished together and I couldn't wait to leave. Claustrophobia and all that jazz.

We had a small wedding with 35 guests. It was quite lovely (but I'm biased lol). We had our ceremony at our dream venue and then we celebrated with an intimate dinner at a nearby restaurant. We covered valet parking for our guests. We had an open bar and it was a 7 course sit down dinner- BUT it was even better because the restaurant served the dishes family style, meaning the servers offered our guests more if they wanted and they would bring the items to them. We also covered valet parking for those who drove.

If I were given another chance to go back in time and choose between a big wedding or a small wedding, I'd 100% go for the intimate wedding.

*I'm still waiting for our pictures from our photographer. I can't wait to post my BAM!*

We also chose to have a small/medium-sized wedding but booked a larger sized ballroom (the view of the ocean was just too good to pass up!!) they will divide up the space into distinct areas and guests can have plenty of room. At times I worry I went with too big of a space but our wedding coordinator said they have had smaller weddings, and they make it look so beautiful....I am just going to have to trust it'll be ok. :+)

I work a lot of weddings with a catering company for extra money now and then. If it fits 200 it shouldn't be too bad actually. If you space the tables and decor right, you might actually make it look like you have more people. Plus, easier to do sit down with less guests. Good luck! Sounds beautiful!

We are inviting 68 people but are expecting about 60 guests when all is said and done. I'm so glad we are keeping it small!

Our max is 50. That's all we're inviting but some OOT guests may not be making it. Less than 50 ftw!

A lot of beautiful weddings have 50 or so guests. No worries.

Your wedding is 2 months away. How do you know how many guests you'll have? Are you already getting that many RSVPs back? When is your deadline and how many outstanding RSVPs?

More space = more room to dance! I wouldn't worry too much about it. Most of the time, there is very little space between tables and it's hard to navigate around the room. Spread your tables out and your guests will thank you for choosing a venue with space to walk.

Our room filled 175. We only had 83. We spread the tables out like suggested. The DOC carefully staged the room to make it feel full. Also there was plenty of room for dancing and the dance floor stayed full.

I just attended a wedding with around 40 guests, it was the perfect size imo.

That sounds awesome to me. You can spread tables out, have a larger dance floor, and have time to mingle with everyone.

Our guest is 56 people. I prefer smaller more intimate weddings. Too often I attend weddings where the tables are squished together, the dance floor is crammed, and it feels crowded. Space the tables out a little more. Enjoy the extra time with your guests and enjoy the day.

Our max guest list is 30. I look forward to being able to give our guests an experience they'll never forget.

Our venue has ways of making the room open up or dividers to make it look less empty. Check with ur venue on what they suggest.

There's no problem with the size of your guest list. By all means, have a head table. Your venue should be able to help make it look well-spaced out.

We had 74 guests in a room that can hold up to 200 people. With the way the tables are arranged, plus the decor, the room will not look too empty. I actually liked that there was a lot of space for people to move around.

I am only having 60! It's hard to keep the guest list so tight, but I think it keeps the occasion intimate.

I've been to a wedding with 10 guests. So, yes, it's fine. As PP have said it will be easier to move around.

I am planning to have only 80 because my family is so united and if I invite one I need to invite them all and this is not including my family that's from Puerto Rico because if not it would've been like 200 while my FH family is only like 20 . Anyways I am expecting that from those 80 at least only 60 or less confirm lol I am being honest.
