Has anyone been to a wedding of only 50-60 people? I really expected more along the lines of 100 but its looking more like 55. Also my venue is pretty large, it can sit 200! Has anyone been to a wedding of only 50-60 people? I really expected more along the lines of 100 but its looking more like 55. Also my venue is pretty large, it can sit 200! Its such a beautiful venue, the large glass windows are of the bay, beautiful sunset dinner. Im not having a buffet, we are doing sit down. Im afraid its going to look so empty now. I am going to try to keep 6-8 people per table instead of the usual 10, set up an hors d'oeuvres station, a popcorn/ candy bar, and the bar to try and fill up the room. I also will have the dj and photo booth also. I really wamted a head table with all of us (its just how i see it in my vision) but im afraid the room will look even more empty! Any other affordable suggestions??

I have been to a wedding with less than that on more than one occasion. Our venue sits 300 and we will probably have 80-100 tops

We'll likely end up somewhere around 60. I think it's going to be perfect. Don't worry about the space, just ask your venue for guidance on how to make it look the best given that you will be a smaller group. The way I see it, we'll have more time to actually spend with each of our guests.

It would be a good idea to maybe speak to the venue to see if they have held parties of that size before in that space and they will be able to give you more of an idea of what it would look like. I think it'll still be nice because everyone will have a lot of room to move around freely and enjoy themselves.

I'm getting married in a castle with 50 people lol. You don't need to add people to the guest list to make it look more full. More room for people and then if you are paying per guest you have more money for other things to add like the other foods you mentioned.

In every venue i toured, when they say it can seat 200 it's usually wayyyy too cramped. At max capacity You are basically knocking elbows while eating and bumping into chairs while navigating through. Your guest will appreciate the extra room. I'm actually really worried about our 180 person quest list in a place with a 200 person capacity.

We're inviting 50 and expecting 48 and couldn't be happier. I love the intimate feel instead of a huge wedding where you spend all or the time just Trying to get around to everyone on the night. Im really looking forward to it Smiley smile

We had about 65 total in a venue that would hold about 120. It allowed a nice set up. You should be fine.

Look at it this way: it's better to have too much room than not enough! Embrace the extra space Smiley smile. Your guests will more than appreciate it.

I have been to a wedding where she had way too many tables out and not enough guests to fill the tables. It looked sad. Make sure you spread them out and only use what you need

We have 50 people and the venue can comfortably hold 90 guests. Between the photographer, videographer, DJ, venue staff, that will feel like a lot more. I say embrace this as a good thing. More room from everyone to walk around, I'm sure the staff and vendors appreciate the extra space while they work, and you'll get to actually spend time with ALL your guests rather than being shuffled table to table just for pictures.

I really think when venues give you a max capacity, the place would be pretty freaking squished if you actually had that many. We had about 85 guests and I thought our venue was packed but they claim they can seat up to 125. I wanted to ask where, like literally on the dance floor?

Reading this thread eases my mind as I've often worried about the size of our venue (seats 200) compared to our guest count (80ish) as I shared earlier....now after reading everyone's experiences, I'm getting super excited and feel fortunate to have a beautiful and spacious venue and intimate wedding to be able to interact with each and all of our loved ones and close friends....thanks guys!! :+)
