Open church reception

Kayla, on November 15, 2019 at 7:00 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 3
We are planning an open church ceremony and reception. Our church is maybe 60 people. I doubt half of them will come. We plan on inviting maybe another 50 people. It is going to be a late afternoon cake and punch reception. I have a couple questions.

1. What is the best way to extend the open invite? Put it in the bulletin, have our pastor announce it, send individual invitations to the members?
2. How many extra people would it be smart to plan for?

I think sending invite and get RSVP is the best way to plan. If you want a full open invitation then you should plan for the max amount. Say you invite 100 then plan for 100 and be prepare to have extra food. I would still send a formal invite.

I do like the idea of sending everyone a formal invite!

Welcome to the WeddingWire community Kayla! Congratulations on your engagement!

If you are looking to get an exact number of attendees for your wedding, I would highly recommend sending individual invitations to each guest/household and request RSVPs back by a certain date. This will ensure that you have enough cake and punch for everyone, while not having way too much and it going to waste.
