Open toe shoes on wedding day=trampy??? is this true?

Sheena Marie, on March 31, 2009 at 12:45 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 47

Ok I was talking to my G-ma last weekend and she asked about my shoes. I told her I wanted some cute open toe shoes and she told me that a bride NEVER wears open toe shoes because its trampy. The link below are the shoes i was thinking about.

http://www.davidsbridal.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplayView?storeId=10052&catalogId=10051&categoryId=-49997468¤tIdx=4&subCategory=-49998498|-49997996&catentryId=1000434

What do you think? Is she just old Fashioned or is this true?

I never really thought about it but too be honest with you i really think your grandma is being a bit old fashion. There is nothing wrong with open toe shoes. I think you should wear them they look perfectly fine.

That's silly. most brides are wearing open-toed shoes. otherwise David's Bridal wouldn't be selling them. It's really hard to find pretty closed-toe shoes right now. Just smile and nod at your Gramma for this one.

What does your G-ma have to say about women who get married barefoot? :-) If a woman is going to look trampy it has nothing to do with her shoes.

Those are adorable. You are the one getting married, not your g-ma. Wear what makes you feel like the bride you always hoped you'd be.

I dont think that is true AT ALL... Many many brides wear open toed shoes in this day in age ESPECIALLY if your getting married during the summer months or anytime when it is warm out. I say wear the shoes you want... no one is even really going to see them that much!!!

PS. I am also wearing open toed shoes. Smiley smile

Hahah, that really made me giggle! Grandmas can be so cute! of course that's old fashioned! And those shoes are actually "peep toe" shoes, not open toe. So cute by the way!! Don't worry at all about wearing them.

That is definitely old fashion... In fact I am wearing Chuck Taylor's in my wedding. I don't wear hills from day to day and I definitely want to be comfortable. You should too!!! Wear what you want! It isn't grandma's day (as we all have learned) it is your day...

I wouldn't worry about it, because 1)how many people are going to be looking at your shoes instead of your beautiful dress and 2) grandma's always tend to be a little old fashioned and she'll forget about it on the day of the wedding.

I think those shoes are adorable!! Not trampy at all. I'm jealous because I want shoes like that but I'm 5'8" so 3' shoes make me too tall I think. Don't let stuff like this bother you because on the day, it'll be the last thing you're thinking about.

My grandmother is also adorable and blunt! She doesn't think women with children or those of us who live with our FH before marriage should wear white Smiley smile She's serious about it, but she also wouldn't make an issue of it on my wedding day (although I chose ivory so it isn't really an issue). I'm sure your grandmother won't either. I'm going barefoot on my day! As with most things wedding related, it's nice to take other's feelings into consideration and "give" a little (not making BM's wear something hideous or spend too much money, incorporate an apron dance because your mom really wants you to have one, etc.), but in the end the decisions are yours. ROCK THOSE SHOES!

Holla for the tall girls! Be proud of your statuesque beauty! My groom is 2" shorter than I am and he LOVES when I wear high heels and he can strut around with his amazon blonde! hahaha. Don't ever feel bad about being tall or feel like you HAVE to avoid heels.

I second that. I got lucky, Randy is 6'6 but even if he were shorter i wouldnt give up my heels. I love my shoes and am proud of being tall!

Ok, since everyone else is chiming in: I'm 5'10 and I felt super self conciouse about rockin some heels on my wedding day. But seeing that you other tall girls are doing it makes me feel soo much better!! My groom is my height, but he tells me heels are sexy and he loves to see me in them.

    PS

Rock those peep-toes girl. --- If g-ma asks u about it at the wedding look demurely at her and tell her you thought open toe meant all toes exposed and since your shoes only showe a toe or 2 that you were ok.--- I always play dumb in situations like that....LOL
