I have been contemplating not opening gifts in front of all of the guests at my upcoming bridal shower and waiting to open them after the shower is over. Has anyone ever done this?

I am thinking the guests would appreciate not having to sit through me opening and commenting on each gift and perhaps feel bad about their gift compared to others.

There are about 50 people invited to the shower so the gift opening could take awhile.

I appreciate your comments and feedback!

Honestly, don't worry about it. If you don't want to open it.. don't. I didn't. I had over 80 people though and my friends all thanked me for not opening. When I did open when I got home later I made sure to make a point of knowing exactly what everyone got me.

As for the question what else do you do at bridal showers...? You eat, play games, mingle. It's not a long day, only a few hours. I wouldn't take up 2 of them opening gifts.

Baby showers is different- its a bunch of cute baby clothes.

    My opinion.

To me if I can take the time (and money) to buy you a gift, wrap it, and come to your shower then the least you can do is take the time to open my gift and be appreciative. Honestly if I went to a shower and they didn't open the gifts it would feel very ungrateful to me and I would likely not purchase a wedding gift at that point. That's a huge part of what a shower is about.

Agree! When attendees go to the trouble and expense of finding the bride or new mom the perfect gift they deserve to at least see you open it. Not opening the gifts is so rude, unappreciative and ignorant... THEN, ALSO, make sure you have the integrity to also send off a thank you! So many young people don't bother with the thank you cards so some of them I don't buy for anymore! Yes, it is time consuming but y'all's can handle it, so was buying the gift!!!!! Send the thank you card showing appreciation for the gift and to them for taking the time to attend your shower!

I Agree 100% and don't forget the Thank You cards too!!! Good manners these days are seemingly going down the drain with brides not showing they're super grateful and appreciative! You can bet if you don't do it right at your shower, it will show up in the gifts you receive at the wedding! The older generations are getting used up on poor manners!

You don't invite someone to a shower expecting a gift and then too tell them how or what they have to wrap them in... Very poor judgement and manners!!!
