Thoughts feelings on Limited Bar versus Open Bar. We are usually the ones getting everyone wasted. Super torn on this one. Helppppp!!!!!!

I'm hoping they have some top shelf alcohol and choices such as Patron, Hennessey, Remy VSOp etc. I am unsure just shopping around at the moment and reading what most venues offer.

Do you have a venue picked out? Many will have you get bartending services through your outside caterer. When you get a venue (usually all inclusive) that provides alcohol they will have 5 figure minimums usually for the bar only. Not counting the 5 figure food minimum on top of other expenses.

Take a look at eventective.com for a venue. Blank slate venues where you bring in your own catering are actually more budget-friendly.

Contact catering companies in your area and ask what alcohol services they provide.

We are doing beer And wine only and once it’s runs out they will have to buy their own. We are letting people know upfront before hand. FH and I don’t really drink that much, and his family is pretty conservative so I think it’ll be fine.

It depends on your budget as to what you want to serve your guests. You know your guests. What do you mean limited and if you do limited what kind of drinks are in a limited package? If you do limited maybe find out what your guests like to drink and have that. Open bar gives your guests options as to what they want to drink. I agree with people in not having your guest pay for their drinks. I am doing an open bar bc of the kind of guests that I am having and they can choose what time of drink that the prefer to drink.

I’m a open bar - Premium bar kind a girl lol. I find that open bar options tend to come with most venues. Guests should only come out of pocket to tip the bartender(s). Limited bar would work if you did wines, sangria and maybe a signature couple drink. You want the options to be plentiful. Good luck

We are doing open bar, and decided we wouldn’t even consider another option. Ultimately, we want our guests to have the best time, and we figured if it was cash bar for any portion, then people would drink less.

Honestly I would ask, if you're going to spend all the time, effort, and money at your wedding - do you want to be able to remember it?

Most of the time when people do full open bars, guests (or even the couple!) get too drunk and can't remember their night, or end up regretting the hangover the next day.

Maybe a happy medium would be open bar for beer/wine and choose a his and hers cocktail?

If you want to party like a rockstar, do it at the bachelor/bachelorette party IMO! Smiley smile

    Agree with this.

I know this isn't your issue but we are having a backyard wedding and my fiance didn't want to hire a bartender so I told him no bartender no liquor, I don't want to see a drop of liquor at our wedding, we would have a limited bar with beer and wine only. My fiance didn't want to do the limited bar so we hired a bartender. I don't think a limited bar is a bad idea, it's money saving and even though people can still get really drunk it takes a bit more than liquor. I say either option is good as long as your guest won't have to open their wallets

We have open bar.....We both have families that love to party and have a good time. I would say open bar if all of your guest know how to conduct themselves while drinking.

So a cash bar is not a good option? We are on a tight budget and paying for the alcohol is expensive. What do y'all suggest?
